I'm shocked we got that much analysis. Beat Liverpool and the days of being under the radar will be well and truly over

I'm trying to remember where I heard the following analysis of Watford recently and think it must have been on radio 5 live. The pundit/reporter (again, can't remember who it was; turned over after Watford report, sorry!) didn't say our success so far was simply down to our front two but instead said how well organised and hard working we are as a team and said enormous credit must be given to the team's training.

It has to be Ighalo's goal cos every goal adds £1m to his valuation.

£10m Chinese offer plus £1m per goal means at least £30m come next May :)

If you are looking for bias coverage you should try the MOTD magazine.

My son gets it every week and I normally ignore it but I had a quick look at the Xmas special yesterday. Our only mention was in the best PL jumper competition (we came 2nd - yippee!).

The whole thing is packed with pictures and stories about the top 6. No wonder all the kids end up supporting Manure etc.

Even though it was positive, I thought a lot of it was nonsense, and probably only gathered from watching the highlights there and then.

We often kick it long, we don't have that much pace up front, Ake is starting to play better with Jurado but I'd hardly say it was better than many other relationships in our team and I doubt many of our foreign contingent have played much 442 in their careers.

Quique doesn't really agree that it is easy to slot players in and out, as we probably rotate less than any team in the league.

It's funny but it's very unlike him, when he came he even said he likes to use the whole squad ... However momentum is a beautiful thing and we've been pretty lucky with injuries so he'd be pretty crazy to change things until the boxing day fixture when he probably must. Of course a bad result before then could alter this but I have a suspicion our streak's not about to end so abruptly.

Agreed, the analysis on MOTD2 last night was actually very poor. It just makes a change to hear pundits talking us up rather than dismissing us, even if the common denominator of talking drivel still persists. I'm sure outsiders will be surprised to hear that Capoue has been our best player this season, and not Deeney or Ighalo.

Yeah, but the comment about Ighalo sending John O'Shea for ice cream was pretty great.

Who was the fat journalist on MOTD2 extra yesterday? They spoke very briefly about us (amazingly) where someone said we've got a good manager after which this guys only contribution to the conversation came which was "well they've had enough of them!". The guy couldn't shut up about Liverpool or United though.

I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that the so called experts, (with one or two exceptions), know absolutely jack sh*t and rely on drivel about the top 6 to keep them in a job. Yeah I know I'm slow in getting it but it's becoming d*mn obvious now.

You can't blame them really. I stopped listening to Talksport because of their incessant banging on about Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City - but then I wondered what their listening figures would be like if they spent all their time talking about Norwich, West Brom, Watford and Sunderland...

Good point - most people aren't in a job to talk sense or enhance the credibility of the sport - its to maintain viewing/listening figures while making money

Sounds like opinion stated as fact. I personally think Ighalo HAS been our best player this season, whatever the commentators say, and there have been a few others better than Capoue.

ah, fair enough. Don't they usually have MNF for that kind of crap? Guess their "super sunday" wasnt so super this week.

Ah ok - fair enough. Was disappointed but guess I can wait. Shame though as we would have been top game tonight.

That Abdi interception in the second half (just before Gomes' equally good save) really was amazing.

  28. JH93

Consensus was that Ake's goal should have been ruled out (got to agree but not complaining!).

Deeney's strength against Sakho on the right wing was also fantastic.

Neville said he reckons us and Leicester could tempt more teams to play with two strikers.

Absolute crap apart from their praise of Deeney and Capoue.

That whole 442 thing was crap, first we hardly play 442 if you actually break it down, secondly it's all of a sudden fashionable now is it?

    Such utter annoying drivel.

  30. Meh!

    Meh! Pre-Dictator

Well that was a bit of bullcrap.

Spent more time debating the first goal than actually talking about how well we played.

Spent more time debating the 442 than about Watford beating Liverpool 3-0.

Spent more time slating 1 Liverpool defender than about Ighalo scoring yet another 2.

Waited an extra day for that.

    Wish I hadn't bothered.

Not even mentioned when they showed the league table.

We'd probably still be under the radar if we were 2nd in the league!

    Ho hum, Onwards.

We'd probably still be under the radar if we were top. Even now literally NOBODY in the media think Lesta can actually win it. They may not, obviously, but they're definitely in with a shout.

Thought it was pretty poor. Didn't show the fantastic 1881 display and didn't really compliment us, just said about the goal should have been disallowed and how 4-4-2 is big in spain and more teams in england might adopt going back to 2 strikers.

I know it,s a minor thing but irritated that the person announcing the link after the news just before MOTD came on introduced the game as Liverpool v Watford, says it all.
