True. But Peneranda's regression is horrible considering where he was at the end of last season both with Granada and fleetingly with Venezuela.

Edit: expanding on this buying young talent is great but what worries me is all of our effective signings are ready made older players. All the expensive "nearly big things" to my mind are now worth less and have less improvement potential than they did when they joined (Peneranda/Success/Berghuis/Doucoure). It's not all the clubs fault of course, but that is about 30+ million(?) right there that has likely depreciated.

We paid 8/9 mill for Peneranda. If we had paid 15 or 16 mill we may have got a work permit for him as the size of the transfer fee is taken into consideration. With the amount of games he is currently playing we will never get a WP for him!!

Isn't he eligible for a Spanish passport at the end of this season?

Pervis Estupinan has been on the bench for Granada's past two games.

Tremendous performance from Uche Agbo in Granada's 1-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid. He was everywhere, breaking up play, getting forward well and winning the ball back time and again. If we are looking for alternatives/cover for Behrami, I would imagine he'll be it, work permit permitting. He looks a better player on the few games I've seen him, far more accomplished on the ball and has the engine that Behrami probably had a few years back. If we played both of them against the big teams, we'd be very hard to break down.

Aly Malle came on for the last five but only touched the ball once, and Pervis Estupinan was an unused sub on the bench.

Jerome Sinclair can't get a game for Birmingham. That's one in the eye for all the Enjooooythegame lot who wanted Mazzarri to start him ahead of Deeney.

And Ibe cannot get a game at Bournemouth.

Yet both were highly rated at Liverpool...

Maybe shows what is wrong with the youth system in this country?

Oulare with the second best headed finish from a Watford centre forward this week, with the added bonus of being at the right end:

Starting this off again because we haven't done this in a while. Folivi sat on the bench as Coventry won the Checkatrade Trophy against Oxford, Uche Agbo got himself sent off (2 yellows) when Granada were 2-1 down at home to Barca in the 81st (?) minute (they ended up losing 4-1) and Berghuis had a shocker in De Klassieker against Ajax.

Gives the ball away with a pass to no-one within the first ten seconds which ultimately leads to Ajax's first goal, does a hospital pass that ends up with one of his teammates getting a yellow and then gets a yellow himself for kicking the ball at Ajax fans just before he was going to take a corner. Didn't really do anything else of note.

Any more for any more of our loanees?

The semi-mythical Pervis Estupinan will be making his debut for Granada at Deportivo this evening after promotion from Granada B. He'll be lining up on the left which should bring him directly up against our very own Juanfran, in a case of Never-going-to-play-for-us past vs Never-going-to-play-for-us-future.

Another goal for Oulare... maybe he isn't as sh*t as a lot of you think...

    2 assists for Berghuis too.

Estupinan gave away a penalty but played 90 mins as Granada drew 0-0. Malle doesn't seem to be getting in the squad these days, maybe injured?

Granada fans seem happy with Estupinan's debut - just saw the penalty incident, I'm not sure it was a foul but even if it was, he had to do something as he was marking two men and it was a free header from in the six yard box. Malle's been a victim of a formation change, he's an out and out winger and they've played most recent games with wing backs (although looks like tonight they reverted to a back four). He scored again for Granada B this weekend.

In Granada's academy team, our u21 player Juan Camilo Becerra scored another two last week. It's hard to find out how he's doing as there is so little information but every time I check he seems to have scored another two goals!

Edit: lots of chatter from Ecuador fans hoping that Estupinan will get called up for the full national team on the back of his performances at the recent S. American u21 competition and his debut for Granada. Would help a lot with future work permits if that happens. Could be a possible back up for Holebas?

It was a tap in to an open goal from a couple of yards out after a goalkeeping fumble. Kudos to him for following up quickest though.

3 goals and 2 assists in 6 games for Willem. Alright the standard might not be great but it's good to see him doing well and completing 90 minutes now. Maybe he'll come back and have a storming pre-season? We do need a younger target man to challenge Troy and Okaka.

Eventful sub appearance from PeƱaranda in Malaga's 2-0 win over Barcelona. Booked a minute after coming on, perfectly good goal ruled out after 5 mins for offside. Made some good runs, worked very hard for the team but seemed to have lost a bit of pace from last season. Hopefully he'll get a few more chances and get a bit sharper.

Berghuis at the double today to rescue a draw for Feyenoord against PEC Zwolle. Both good finishes, cutting inside from the right onto his left foot. 7 goals and 5 assists in 23 starts and 6 sub appearances now. Still don't think he'll play for us next season though...

Plenty of strikers make careers out of being in the right place at the right time.

Besides, its not like its his only goal since joining them.

Lukaku, Benteke, Origi - Oulare could be our equal to them...
