With Bournemouth losing last night. we beat Blackpool on Sat we'll close the gap and it sets the match up the following fri perfectly. If we lose on sat? we can kiss the automatic places goodbye If we draw? We don't do draws
Yes, one thing we know for sure is this will not be a draw. We will either thrash them or suffer a limp single goal defeat.
Careful, guys. We can't go into this game thinking "Oh, it's Blackpool, we'll definitely win this so we will be alright". I almost went for counselling after we lost 3-0 to Yeovil at home last season. We need to work just as hard in this game as we do in any other game - I just hope the players realise this, especially after the Charlton win. For some reason, I can see this being a scrappy 1-0 victory for us. And I will take that.
Blackpool will not give us as much space as Charlton did IMO. We are still well capable of beating them, but musn't allow them to dictate the game. Predicting a 2-0 win. Both in the second half
We can because we don't play for Watford. If the players thought that then, yes, we will come crashing back to Earth.
Not sure I totally agree with your second point, but yes this most definitely a crucial game now! I hope and indeed believe we will win but it wont be as easy as Charlton, Blackpool will make it hard for us Blackpool have been a bit of a bogey side for us in recent season often nicking an undeserved win against us Watford have a knack of loosing these 'should win easily' games over the years! Potential 'banana skin' this one, make no mistake! Lets have another display like Saturday, I would for one would really enjoy us giving them a good tonking! COYH!
If there's one thing I've learned in all my years as a Watford fan then it's the easy looking games that trip us up. Saturday will be a slog.
Blackpool's last 3 away games Sheff Wed L1-0 to a penalty Villa L1-0 88th minute goal Wolves L2-0 86th & 90th minute goals This clearly shows they are due an absolute walloping, bring em on!!
The manager and players need to adopt a merciless attitude and go in to this game with a determination to get at them from the first whistle. From the outset, we need to destroy any belief or hopes that Blackpool may have. Complacency is the enemy on Saturday, not Blackpool.
I think we've lost already. I'm not even going to go as I've seen the future and trust me it ain't yellow
Always a potential banana skin (see Birmingham away), now Joka seems to have removed the troublemakers he can focus more on the match ahead. Also unless a training injury occurs I suggest he starts with the same 11, consistancy in results is more achievable with consistancy in team selection.
Beat Blackpool, somehow snatch a win at Bournemouth and suddenly we'll be right in the mix for top 2, and even the title. I'd take 4 points right now, however.
Why is it? Any manager could take any one of our previews or discussions and turn it into a positive. Next Friday, we are away at Bournemouth. I can imagine the majority of us saying we are going to lose and Eddie Howe could show that to his players saying that we are scared! Whether we say we are going to win or lose has no impact on the result or players/managers psyche.
Here the bottom graph show they pretty well matched Wolves for much of the game on Saturday but they then petered out markedly and eventually capitulated completely. Patience might be needed but I really can't see any real problems.
Our record against the bottom clubs combined with our yoyo performance suggests that a good bet could be had
An early goal for us makes all the difference just like it did last Saturday, means the other team then have to come at us more which leaves space for us to get in behind them and take advantage
Bournemouth are a problem in that we play them soon and need a result. But ... I never saw them as the real obstacles to an automatic promotion push. I said ,Derby and Mbro all season and I haven't seen anything to change that. I'd be absolutely amazed to see Bournemouth holding a top two place close to the end; I just hope their form has run out in time for us to get a result out of them.
The reality is that teams competing for promotion should be expecting to defeat the bottom of the table team at home. Failure to do so is failure. If we are defeated because the Blackpool manager encouraged his players to read a Watford FC forum, we are in a very bad place. We may not win, but it will be incredibly disappointing if we don't. Proper attitude and a avoidance of bad luck should ensure 3 points. Maybe Joka should show this thread to his players.
There are no easy games at this level. If people are to be believed, there are no easy games at any level. But there are easy games when one team is at one level and the other is at a much lower level. The question is, can teams in the same division be at significantly different levels, or can fight or complacency bridge the gap? I hope this clears that up for you all.
A game (as with all games we play) we should definitely win but we need the attitude shown against Charlton. Most teams in this division can throw a spanner in the works. When we played up there this season we got a good result in difficult circumstances but it could have been different had they scored their pen. I too said Bournemouth would fade and I think all games are big from now until the end of season but the next 2 are massive to really get a real challenge on the top 2 places. Want 6 points, would probably take 4 and if so 3 against Bournemouth and 1 against Blackpool but I think I would have to keep the forum offline if we don't get 3 points Saturday.
As I said in another thread.... Need a good result on Saturday and results to start favouring us elsewhere as we have a tricky patch after Blackpool. Away to Bournemouth, League leaders Home to Blackburn, always an arse of a game Away to Brentford, in the play offs Away to Bolton, rather resurgent under Lennon Home to Norwich, currently chasing pack under the play offs
Deary me - the 'massive game' syndrome has started early! All the games in a season are equally 'massive' since they all come with three points at stake.
