    Entertaining game

Blackburn certainly the best team we've played this season but in many ways they're the same as the rest of them at this level in the sense that they don't take their chances and leave the door open at the other end

Thought Garner was excellent and Wilmot was pretty good. Cathcart and Kabasele poor

Armstrong was very good for them

I’m annoyed my prediction for us to win by 3 goals didn’t come true.

That was an absolute walk in the park. We conceded countless chances because we were playing the game at walking pace, and we offered them a bit of charity.

    Record points total, methinks.

Almost feel sorry for them, we should have no right to still have Sarr in the Championship, ripped them a new one on multiple occasions! Final ball or finish wasn't always there from him, but what a difference he can make. Garner outstanding, he was everywhere, best game he's played for us by far. I'd missed Etienne Capoue absolutely taking the piss as well, great to have him back!

That was the most uncomfortable 3-1 I've ever watched.
Elliot and Namby Pamby gave Ken a torrid time in the first half.
Fortunately faded in second but Holtby and the Dolan chap ( Charles Charlie Charles) looked good.
    Wilmot good,Foster likewise. Garner excellent.
NC continues to frustrate me no end.
    Great to see Capoue back.
I've never seen us concede so many free kicks and I missed the third getting my supper!
    Never mind!
    COYH!

Very encouraging performance. Blackburn will definitely be in the playoff picture come the end of the season so to beat them fairly comfortably and look too much for them going forward at times is a good sign.

Garner was MOTM with Foster a close second - great performance from both.

34% possession and Blackburn had 19 shots to our 10. Plucky win against a more coherent opponent all in all. We need to work big time on looking after the ball - far too many times we just chipped it straight out or back to them in the second half. Still missed 2 or 3 sitters and could have won 6-1 on another day. I’d forgotten how bonkers this division is.

Gosh I’m in shock. That was so out of character for what’s gone before. 5 close and at times somewhat dull matches, and now this. 90 minutes of entertainment. Open football. Poor defending. And very enjoyable!

We’ve all talked for weeks now about who we hoped would stay and worried about those who might leave. I think we can add Foster’s name to that list now. Potentially the best keeper in our new division, and we can be delighted to keep him.

A lot of negatives to work on tonight, but we’ve won again. Already we’ve secured half the number of victories we got last season, and the clocks haven’t gone back yet!

And we’ve now had 4 penalties against us...and saved all 4!

Bring on the weekend. A very tough fixture awaits, but I’m getting excited already at the thought of the muff that awaits ;)

Bizarre game. Blackburn would have scored a few more if it weren't for Big Ben... But we also missed about 3 sitters.
Complete contrast to previous games where we've been solid as a rock defensively but toothless going forward.
Garner looked really good today, is settling in nicely. Capoue classy as ever when he came on, so glad to have him back. If we're sticking to this formation (I hope not), I'd like the midfield three to be Capoue, Garner, Hughes.
Overall obviously positive but a bit of a worry that we conceded so many chances. Also didn't seem as fit as Blackburn and struggled to match their intensity.
Not sure if anyone else watched with Blackburn comms. My word. What a couple of moaners. Unreal!

Brilliant from Foster, what a penalty save. Cathcart rash and reckless. Didn't defend as well but credit to BR they are a decent side. Gave us without a doubt our toughest match so far.

Sarr was excellent, great goals too, a little lucky with the third. On another day that would of ended 2-2 and BR were more than worthy of a point. Obviously glad we did win, and thank you Cardiff tonight too. Saturday's match up against Muff will be a good contest.

BR dominated that game for long periods especially possession but that doesn't win matches. We seemed pretty content to hold on and with a two goal cushion we did enough. Ivic still hasn't got a first class performance out of the team yet, but 13 points from six is excellent, considering how thread bare we were before Boro'.

Blimey, Nath has literally written what I was going to say word for word.

We look ragged at times espeically in midfield. As Nath has pointed out Chalobah is not the same player he was pre injury, a couple of blocks in our own box dosen’t make up for the fact that he can’t pass the ball to save his life, lost count of the amount of times he gave the ball away & the foul count must have been approaching double figures. Garner got into the game late on & Cleverley was Cleverley. If only Dele Bashiru hadn’t of been injured as he would have made so much difference in that midfield. Granted that we won’t come up against many better midfield units this season but the aforementioned individuals need to step it up.

All about accumulating points though & we can only get better!!!!

Good win, quite enjoying this championship business! I'd be surprised if Blackburn aren't among the playoff mix come the end of the season. I think we'd all have taken these set of results at the start of the season.

Very good win against a largely dynamic Blackburn team.
The defence did much better in the second half and we saw out the win convincingly.
Shame Capoue was given the armband after his summer pisstake.
Super Ken with another assist and classy display. On a different wavelength to the other forwards with his sublime skill near the end.
A ridiculous yelllow for Jezza and Kabbs should have seen red.
3 points nearer to our certain promotion.

  20. A really enjoyable game of football even though i thought we were quite poor. If it had been 4-4 I wouldn't have been surprised. The Champ is way more entertaining than the PL.

Lets not forget this is 6 games in for a new team, new formation, new style. Its still a work in progress.

Great result and some wonderful individual moments of talent/play, but it was also the definition of essentially relying on having better players than the opposition - we rarely controlled the ball and spent large portions of the match under the cosh. Some of that was Blackburn spaffing their load on pressing in the first half, but we also got lucky/relied on moments of individual brilliance too much for my liking. If we are going to pursue that as our tactic, then we really need every single one of our Prem players back and in the first XI asap.

Also can't help but feel we've used up all our luck for the season in one game:
    • Kabasele avoided what would maybe have been a red in the PL with VAR
    • Rebound falling straight to Cleverely
    • Own goal in our favour
    • Penalty save
    • Ngakia avoiding a second yellow on the full-time whistle

Don't really care how many chances they had. We won & I never felt like we wouldn't. Foster was superb. We looked dangerous going forward (albeit didn't happen enough in the first half). Up to 3rd in the league and we've yet to hit top gear. COYH.

I agree his first yellow shouldn't have been a yellow, but he threw himself in to a couple of needless tackles after he got booked which the referee thankfully looked kindly upon.

Foster MOTM. Says a lot about the match. Could have been 5-3. The defensive shape was poor and I would like to see us more dominant in midfield with Chalobah poor. That quality will come with Hughes and Capoue. Capoue showed his class again with two casual nutmegs.

There is real magic building with the young players. Ngakia looked comfortable when he came on. Garner two assists and should have had a third. Never shirked physical contact and attacked the box. He, Pedro and Sarr can work magic as they did for the first. It's a shame Sarr did not convert that effort given Pedro's superb initial ball back into Garner.

There are still issues to sort out at the setpieces the defensive shape, the need to control possession more but I think we can beat teams with comfort this season knocking in three or four goals a game. Sarr and Pedro are forging an understanding. Garner is coming on leaps and bounds and the rest of the team is gaining familiarity. And still Hughes, Deeney and Perica to come in when required.

Garner, Pedro & Sarr combine for the first:

Something any team can do for free irrespective of talent is to be organised, work hard and press. Defenders don’t need great technical ability to do that and it seems like as a given, most championships sides do all of the above. None of them really have any attacking talent though, which is something you can’t coach or create if you don’t have it.

There are probably less hardworking less organised premier league teams, but most have enough talent going forward to make up for it.
