One thing we can thank The Stability for (after they inflicted it on us in the first place) - it seems as though Roy has confirmed/suggested that if it was up to him, we might have been forced to suffer yet one more geriatric who can hardly move chuntering about the pitch. Perhaps Roy saw him as an option for the left wing:
Sarr’s injury has seriously knocked the stuffing out of my happy clapper dom. Like the slow , relentless crawl of cancer I’m giving up hope to BW death .
Stop overrating Sarr. We have been a little better recently not in anyway because of the average performances of Sarr but because Roy has somehow make us a better team away from home and Kamara, Samir and Kayembe have improve the team. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
There is no doubt on his day Sarr is our best and most dangerous attacker. Was he worth 40 million? - maybe not but then this is a club who paid 18 million for someone who couldn't trap a football.
Has he? Didn’t look like scoring against Burnley or West Ham, decent 45 minutes away at Villa, and battered in all but scoreline vs United
I know Kiko's good for 3 or 4 crosses a year, but I've never seen him do one like that from a standing start while marked. Either way, the idea that Sarr isn't that good or important to how we play is completely exposed by our dire results when he's out of the side.
Kamara, Samir and Kayembe may have improved the team, but not enough to get us any wins, or any points against top half opposition. Those only happened when we got Sarr back. Plus still have serious issues scoring even with him in the team, but without him such a task seems near enough impossible for the remaining players.
Results since Sarr injured against Manure (H) L-L-L-L-L-L-L-D-L-D-L-L Goals Scored: 8 Goals Against 27 Opposition withstanding, as well as no luck, that is a dreadful set of results. Would they have been better with a fully fit Sarr? Impossible to know. However, I think we would of scored more than 8 goals 12 games. Yes our defending in most of those was beyond apathy, but our attack was just as blunt. Roy has got us defending better, but not by much. How we never lost at Manure is purely down to woeful finishing from two of the best strikers in the PL . Having no Sarr at least for Arsenal, Wolves and Southampton is a scary thought. All we can hope is that the rest of the team pull their socks up and give some decent performances - attack with more merit and King takes a few of his half chances.
And he'll be injured again soon or be hobbling around mid match (no wonder Zaha got 2 goals at the end of the Palace game)
No Sarr is a disaster. It’ll be Cleverly and Kucka. Less Watford v Arsenal, more Dads vs Lads. And we know how that goes once the lads are older than 11.
Usually from my experience as a child it would mean the Dads getting increasingly frustrated as their hips play up and they are danced past by the unendingly more athletic Lads, and resorting to employing their far superior bulk to put in a series of dangerously inappropriate reducers. We tend to go in the opposite direction though, generally, don't we.
If we are going to lose Sarr for three games it might as well be Arsenal (H), Wolves (A) and Soton (A). The Arsenal game is a free hit and for the other two, maintaining our recent defensive form away from home, will be more important than our attacking options. We have to pick up some points in other games, but winning our four home "six pointers" (which atm don't begin until 9 April) will be the key to any remote survival chance we might have......
We marked "Newcastle, Burnley and Norwich as "huge" games. We got two points out of nine. Some of that form carried over from CR70, but when I look at those 'winnable' games against Everton, Leeds, Brentford and Burnley, I get really hyped up that we can win... then forget I support "bottle it" Watford F.C
Yeah, Kiko crosses the ball more often than Sarr, and his crosses are also more accurate. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
Have faith! On 23 March 1991 we were 4 points adrift at the bottom of Div 2. We took 20 points from the last 10 games and finished 5th from bottom. That run in included taking 10 points from 4 home games in April We need confidence, momentum and luck* * btw - my favourite Aidy quote "luck is the convergence of preparation and opportunity" (or something like that).
If we had been playing away from home like this from the beginning of the season, we certainly will be above the relegation zone at this time of the season Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
I wonder if the club/1881 have anything planned for pre kick off? Should at least do a Ukrainian tifo.
Given there’s no home game for five weeks I’ve caved in and decided I WILL go tomorrow. I am fully expecting another totally miserable and humiliating day at the Vic so will be elated if we get anything Any Arsenal fans near me be warned, I’m not in the mood for them. C’mon you Orns.
I’ve heard wherever you are in Vicarage Road tomorrow, you’re no more than 3 seats away from both a former Watford head coach and an Arsenal fan.
