Well, impressive write up! Derby may have turned a corner with McClaren but with Russell definitely and Hughes potentially out this could be a case of them parking the bus. Obviously the key men for them other than those will be Eustace and Forsyth. A battle between Iriney and Eustace wouldn't be a bad thing. Anya will be over Forsyth all day. Can only see a Watford win here. 1-3 Derby.
I predict Iriney to smash Eustace with a late tackle, ending his career, and becoming the universally accepted boo boy. He then storms off shouting about how he prefers Spain, before jumping on the first bus to L*uton.
I think we will lose this game, McLaren will have an extremely positive effect on the team. I hope I am wrong though.
My FIFA Predicts... Watford 0 - 0 Derby County Man of the match: Manuel Almunia Watford substitutions: 58' - Forestieri off/Fabbrini on 69' - McGugan off/Iriney on Odds: Watford 0-0 Derby County @12/1
No easy games in the championship, although defensive move from GFZ bringing on Iriney for McGoo. Injured perhaps, or maybe GFZ justgot annoyed with him shooting every time he received the ball more than 10 yards inside the opposition half
I think Derby will be quite attacking which will helpful for us. BTW Here is a Derby preview - seems pretty fair TBH. http://dcfcfans.co.uk/topic/12867-watford-v-derby-county/page-2
Reading that Derby preview was rather amusing. It highlighted the exact same players that we identify as threats when asked, and appraised them in much the same way. Yet when we say it, we're arrogant. I thought it was a fair summation. I think it's good to see a season ticket holder from another clubs (albeit one who visits us regularly due to his SO being a fan) coming to the same conclusions we have. I suppose most fans expect their opponents to simply say "We're awful, our players are crap, and you're going to tonk us" before every game.
Looking forward to this....how long does it seem since the Wigan game?? My Fifa predicts 3-1 (Abdi, Iriniey & Deeney).
Derby-new manager Extended highlights on BBC First game after international break Zola tired after his cameo match in Italy Got disaster written all over it!
I reckon Zola should start the mixer up some time mid-morning saturday so that its already up to speed and running before the ref even blows his 3pm whistle
Calf strain http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/10747085.Deeney_a_doubt_for_Derby/
It could be Fabbrinni and Fessi as Acuna is injured as well, or Mensah could start...saw him in the warm down from the exec box and from that distance he looks like a beast.
Acuna to start then as we don't take risks with injuries. I don't think Troy has been that great recently so a chance for others to step up. Maybe go with three up front again? Don't see either Mensah or Impeza being the answer yet as neither are ever in the first team squad. Anya to play right wing back against Forsyth as his pace was never his biggest asset. Derby score a few so would have Ireney instead of Mcceachran. Doyley and Belkalem have been doing a fair bit of travelling so probably won't start Almunia Casetti Angella Ekstrand Anya Pudil Ireney Mcugugan FF Acuna Fabbrini
My bad. I completely forgot about him! Maybe play him and go back to 3-5-2 and drop one of FF or Fabbrini. Is this why MellowYeloow disliked my post?
It'll be very interesting to see how the team performs without Deeney. No doubt we'll see some topic bumped before the end of the weekend, coupled with some self-righteous quoting.
One of the youth team players just started working at my place. Apparently Uche Ikpeazu has been training with the first team this week so if we're gonna have him or Mensah. Expect to see him.
