Match statistics don't tell a true story - anyone that quotes them is an imbecile. Yes, both matches ended in defeat, but the manner of those defeats were light years apart in desire, heart, passion call it what you want. Trying to hide behind statistics and points totals is nearly as pathetic as that 'display' the other week.
Not at all, for a start our regular team under QSF was slower - Femenia is very quick, Pereyra and Doucoure are also decent at getting up and down the pitch. Nothing near as bad as having Jurado on the wing! This is the right team selection, let's hope we get a result. Good to see us ditching the back 3, and also Ndong on the bench.
Ironically, my debut season was 68-69 &, from a somewhat shaky memory, every second game seemed to be against the athletes of Bournemouth & Boscombe. The very thought of the fixture evokes a Proustian flashback. The smell of pipe tobacco in the East stand. Hopefully Carillo & Richie appreciate this & pull out all the stops.
Holebas...get rid Otherwise not too bad. Never like to wish harm on others neither, but Stanislas is off, that has to be a blow for the pensioners
Tell you what, Pereyra may only turn up every 3 or 4 games, but when he does he's magic. Still a poor man's Will Hughes though
I really, really don't like this team. Holebas is a complete **** and by far my most hated Watford player ever. Crap defender and completely braindead. Deeney is awful. Capoue is a waste of a shirt. Janmaat just confuses me. Doucoure has been terrible for a while now. Mariappa is a Championship defender. Femenia is a good player. Hughes is going to be a great player. Karnezis is better than Gomes. Holebas is a complete ****.
Gracia threw that away with his stupid response to Howe's formation change 20 to go Why did he think 442 was the way to go, moron Other than that, Hughes looked good, yet another week where the back 4 looked like clowns running round in big floppy boots, hopefully the defence will get the attention it needs this summer Entertaining game but we threw it away... stupid and frustrating
Irritating. A game we really should have won. I'm not going to go into huge detail. All I'm going to say is that if anybody still wants Holebas in this team, then they will never change their mind. He is my least favorite player to have ever donned the Watford shirt and I hope he is not allowed in, or actually near, the club again. What a class A loser.
Eh, it's annoying, but I'm nowhere near as pissed off as I was at the other late collapses we've had this season, even if it is our, ahem, hated rivals. Nothing to play for now, season is petering out now. Today pretty much confirms what we already knew, we aren't getting Europa League and we aren't getting relegated neither. Would like 10th, but it ain't the be all and end all. Played OK today, not expecting fireworks for the last few games, but hopefully we'll finish off much better than we have over the last few seasons
Who had 'throw the ball behind the goal for no reason, conceding a penalty' in the what moronic thing will Holebas do next sweepstake?
I thought we were promoted in 1969 and did not play them for the three years we were in the old division 2
If you didn't Bournemouth before, you should now. Apart from Holebas nobody was that bad, 6/7 out of 10 all round and an 8 for Hughes who should honestly be on the plane to Russia. Gracia cost us the 3 points, no idea why Okaka comes on when we're winning especially when N'Dong is on the bench. Send him back what the hell are we paying him for? The amount of **** crosses Janmaat put in was unbelievable but even the good ones were met by nobody. The trio of Hughes, Femenia and Jamaat down the right flank in the first half combined really well at points, some lovely football. The fact remains, as it has been all season, we don't have a striker at the club capable playing of the lone striker role and it cost us again because we should've scored 3 and been out of sight. Oh well, in the bigger picture means nothing, seasons been over for a while.
I think the imbecile is anyone who does not realise that at the end of the season we count the number of points - not how we played. Zero points is zero points. How we play varies from match to match but how many points we get is there forever. Not difficult for you to grasp surely? Or are you happy for us to play well but get relegated. Get real - we all want good displays but until we are safe it is points that count.
Ok the positives.... On par average game overall against two quite evenly matched sides. Three teams below us lost so it’s another point towards safety. The rest... Holebas is a total ****** for doing such a stupid handball. It was so blaintent it was like he knew he was going to do it before he did it. Hey Holebas here’s an idea... why don’t you sell a DUNCE hat with all your fashion line? He cost us a win. Result was fair in the end but I’m sick of yer again conceding a scrappy late goal. Seconds to go and again we cannot we it out. We just about did it against WBA and Gracia should really start drilling home seeing a game out. We should of won that game and I’m really pee’d off we dropped two points. Bournemouth at least played football and for the most part it was end to end and quite enjoyable. I know its better to draw than lose but Everytime we concede late it makes me think back to Swansea and Palarse games. Bournemouth are known as the comeback kings so credit to them for not giving up, fans were a credit too. Scruffy goal from Peyera to put us ahead which was nice to see him score again and Kiko scored a nice opener. Yes it’s a point rather than a third loss in a row and we’re stull unbeaten at the Vic under Gracia but I can’t help but feel we should be celebrating a win But aren’t due to Holebas and his stupid rush of movement. A point is a point. Our home form is night and day to our away so I think we should be alright. Bournemouth will be happier with a point than we are. God damn you Holebas.
A game where we gained 1 point but lost 2... Really irritating but we do look better - apart from our passing in the opposition box which was consistently attrocious. I noticed that the 1881 have a drummer on the balcony and I feel it definitely had a positive influence on the atmosphere. Boremuff fairies sat on their arses for the entire match. Pathetic fans.
He can't cut it against Premier League centre-backs, but he can outmuscle 5ft 4 Ryan Fraser... *slow clap*
How did Okaka lose 3 fouls in the final minutes? Anyway, good performance, good game, just switched off at key moments. Could've easily lost that undeservedly 1-2. Bournemouth will be in the Premier next season and they deserve it
The same Deeney that has some of the most appalling movement in and around the box that I've ever seen from a Premier League striker, and repeatedly offers us absolutely nothing but a big lump to aim the ball at. The odd good moment or goal doesn't make up for his painfully poor general all around play and lack of threat.
Disappointing, jury still out on Gracia but clearly we can't judge until he has the summer to implement his philosophy etc
Pereyra Motm for me - has been working really hard since coming back from injury and has been showing the extra class he has vs most the rest of our players. I thought King would have had a good scoring chance when seeing the replay for the penalty from the byline angle, but Holebas should have chucked his head at the ball to make the clearance - going with his arm was as much cowardice and stupidity. Prodl was a red-card waiting to happen, and was correctly subbed. Mariappa had been decent up until his strange decision to drop 10 yards off the rest of the defence for their final free-kick, thus playing Defoe onside for the goal. Both still need upgrading. Kiko, Capoue, Janmaat, Hughes all alright on the whole.
That's right. They finished 4th. Just looked & we kept 17 clean sheets at home. I vaguely recall not seeing us concede until about my 8th match.
I think we played some positive football today and we deserved to win and we would have if it wasn't for a moment of madness before the end of the first half by Holebas and a lack of concentration at the end. The club really need to strengthen our defence next season, Prodl is a liability and Holebas is too unreliable hopefully Cathcart can stay fit for the remainder of the season.
Next time a ref is having their premiere league debut can it be somewhere else please? The difference was Hughes, an absolute star out there. Mariappa was also immense.
