Michael thought about this option I hear but on reflection and due to his his former existence as a rapid, lean canine, decided against the Lincolnshire village. He prefers Cambridgeshire as he can be closer to Fitzbillies. He especially likes a pot of Earl Grey and a cheese scone.[/QUOTE]

  4. But we were doing that under QSF in the first few months as well at times. was discussing this the other day on here. There are stark similarities between QSF and Javi, but our grinning buffoon has already proven himself far more adaptable than Quique ever was. Hopefully that is the key to not blowing up after December.

To be fair to QSF, the grinning imbecile has a far superior squad of players which makes being adaptable much simpler (not to take anything away from his achievements).

QSF's season was absolutely remarkable really.

  6. Yes. But he's still a toxic, stubborn, egotistical, unimaginative old plodder.

Would have to put a lot of effort in to work his way up to "grinning imbecile".

I don't mind that the media concentrate on the big teams because it brings in the ratings. What is annoying is that the pundits fail to recognise what Watford bring to the premier league and that's a sustainable approach spending within their means and getting results by good scouting of players and decent coaching rather than chequebook management.
Also annoying of the pundits failure to see beyond Deeney and not see we have a powerful fit midfield who are able to keep other teams at bay by their closing down and that we do have genuine quality in certain positions.
Pundits would rather have the big six plus the likes of villa, forest and Leeds rather than little old Watford and they will not be satisfied until we are put in our place, long may our place in the sun continue... And by the way how good was it seeing all four sides of the ground clapping their hands and cheering the team to victory

Towards the end, I'd agree...but he earned that by getting us safe early on. I hold no grudges towards him as he laid down the foundations and no one since has bettered his achievement yet.

I agree. Watford bring a refreshing originality to the Premier League.

We actually made a massive profit in the summer transfer window. We cleared over £30m!!. Outstanding. This was used, pre-season, as a measure and why pundits marked us as down. Spend £100m like West Ham and you're going to have a great season......hmmm...4 games and no points seems to tell a different story.

If our run continues, the media and everyone else will have to take notice. Once they scratch beneath the veneer of stereotypical rhetoric, they will be surprised to discover Watford are actually an extremely well run club. We are not a chaotic disaster, knee-jerking between coaches and getting lucky with foreign loanees.

This season start has been 4 years in the making, and this is just the start.

Yep. But I'm surprised other premier league clubs havent been in for him since to be honest. He'd have probably have been able to keep west brom or stoke up.

And let's not get started on his gnashers. Makes the queen mother look like tom cruise.

Second half of that season was the most horrifically tedious football ever played at our club. I'm certain of it.

It may have been but we still won some games in the second half of the season to keep our points tally ticking along. It's still the best points finish and position we've had since promotion.

Remember Lesta's Prem under the humble Ranieri.

That really was the greatest story ever told & yet the pundits couldn't wait to look down on them the following season.

The Underdog Narrative is now only accepted during rounds 3-5 of the FA Cup.

Btw, when St Eddie is fired, he could do a great job on Sky.

I agree. But didn't you and others speculate we might be in financial trouble in the summer? Do you now think that analysis was premature or is there still something in it?

QSF also had the luxury of almost no injuries. I respect him for what he did with us, but imagine how ****ed we'd have been if we had the injury list of the last two seasons? For the first time I'm actually fairly confident we can deal with injuries though, with a new medical staff and more strength in depth in most positions. We'll have our peaks and troughs no doubt, but I'm confident we won't implode so dramatically this time

Do you really need to be so patronising?

Only weeks ago you were up in arms at how atrocious our transfer window was and how inadequate Gracia is , in the manner of an over excited schoolgirl who didnt get her favourite My Little Pony for Xmas .

Now all of a sudden you have the tone and vernacular of someone who believes he is the font of all footballing knowledge.

Perhaps if you lightened up a bit and developed a sense of humour you might be easier to tolerate.

I like it but on this visit their were two young American students or tourists who ordered a full tea.
Nothing odd about that apart from it being 11am!
They left half of it.I hope it was given to a homeless person or at least the local wildlife.

  27. Nah. He was toxic. He was undermining players who came in and played well, seemingly to prove himself right about his selections rather than for the good of the club. He would have played Jurado with one leg hacked off with a spoon before some players, and he engedered a toxic atmosphere about this club that had Gino tripping over the players' travel bags during their s***e awful end of season.

The chap had to go. If he hadn't been so toxic, he would have kept his job.

If that’s how you’ve taken my post, then I apologise. Wasn’t the intention at all.

But let’s deal in what I actually said - I felt we had a poor window. I still do. 4 games doesn’t change that. My criticisms of Gracia were all verbalised at the back end of last season. Once pre-season started, I backed off - my opinion was the same but I was in no way vocal about it, I’d made my point. And subsequently, further up this thread, I have said it’s likely I was wrong and have been honest about it. I’ve never decided to direct insults at anyone...like you have here.

Plenty of people tolerate me and I get on with many people on here - I give my opinions. And I respect other people’s, even if sometimes my wording is wrong. I will always apologise when it’s pulled upon.

I think those that know anything about football understand the club , I heard big Sam (I am not a fan of his) saying that watford were the only team able to change manager on a regular basis (they were talking about Chelsea) because the team was so well run.

I’m not really sure I see the comparison with QSF or Silva

QSF was exciting at first, but we were back in the prem which was a novelty, Deeney and Ig started well but once found out QSF didn’t know what else to do, he also didn’t seem to know when to play a substitute (from what I remember). I remember the last few months of QSF being painful.

Silva , again started well but was lucky that he had challobah and Rich , he also didn’t know when to play a sub and only had one system he could play , and wouldnt change even in the face of a sacking. I really don’t think he is that good a manager , Everton seem to be displaying the current problems we had last season.

Javi had a bunch of players most of us had given up on , has got them fit and hungry to play, he has also somehow manager to develop a 2nd team that are desperate to play. He knows how to use his subs and he knows how to change tactics . We also seem to have a lot of quality players who are desperate to start which will help when the inevitable injuries happen. I think Javi is less worried about how he is perceived and more interested in his team playing well and winning.

    Certainly. It was here:

    http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/retained-list.54631/page-2#post-2641961

It was in the context of the lack of signings, stadium works and surprising contract renewals. Though you did say you still trusted Gino. It just stood out to me, as you called Bassini right.

I cannot understand how you could look at that image and think it's Han Solo just because he's wearing jacket. It's clearly not Harrison Ford, and the hat is clearly not Han Solo’s jacket.

Yes....I was concerned back then, but now it's a bit clearer seeing as there were investment talks ongoing at the time.

There are always red flags if you care to look around and at the beginning of June it looked like something was going on.....which of course it was, but it wasn't due to financial difficulties as first feared.

The passing of time usually reveals the truth.
