    You and I would.
The wiser sages on the site would have declared us 100% safe once we reached about 26 points.

Must win game if we are to pip Everton to 7th spot.
    1-2 (Doucoure).

Seems to be a lot of 'this will be a stroll in the park' type comments. I'm not so sure. Southampton are not Huddersfield and are good enough to give us problems if we don't give it full attention.

They were poor against us, however, we've let a lot of top six sides off the hook this season. Not sure we've been quite so ineffective against them. We've competed well in most of those matches. You could say only Liverpool away we were poor. All the others we've either been unlucky or made a mess of it ourselves, rather than being outplayed by our opponent.

We should have beaten United at Old Trafford, and were only denied a point at home because of a wonder save from De Gea. Spurs, we did actually beat, but were unlucky to lose at Wembley to them. Arsenal home and away we should have taken at least 4 points from them this season, but ended up with none and no goals. Chelsea was an even game and only lost because Hazard had one of his good days. Liverpool at home went away from us in the end, but we should have had a penalty on the hour mark with the score at 0-0. Even City, we rode our luck at home, but gave them a rare scare in the final 10 minutes and at their place, only an offside goal broke our resolve.

Other teams seem to get results against this type of side. Without checking, I'd say we must be in the bottom 3 or 4 for taking points off the top six this season, but have been outstanding against the rest. I suppose you can't have it both ways, but it would be nice to take an occasional scalp more than once in a season.

    Update.

RED, a supercomputer, predicted exactly the same results as Lawro for this weekend.

If the NASA geeks are merely replicating Lawro, I think this March of the Machines is highly overstated.

On the other hand, expect a robot to be playing alongside van Dijk next season.

Don't sleep on Southampton. Will be a tough game. They'll be looking to secure their safety by winning tonight.

Start fast, get an early goal and then I think we could control the game.

Would like to Penaranda on the bench tonight. Bobby back in tonight in place of Sema. Otherwise same side as the weekend.

Think we will edge it 2-1, but will be a tough nervy night.

On some posts they're calling us a team of thugs and the next thing is that they need to take Deulofeu out as soon as possible.

    Weird lot.

Maybe getting their retaliation in first.

Is our record vs Bottom 14 really W13 D7 L3?

    That is extraordinary.

All the same, it should be a really tough game.

Man U seem to be getter worse and worse. I don’t watch the European games, but they were poor against us and even poorer against West Ham (despite somehow winning both) and then terrible at Everton.

In fairness our disciplinary record is fairly rubbish.
With the very odd exception, Huddersfield, there are no easy games in the EPL and every team has players that can hurt us and Southampton are no different. They have some very good players like Redmond and Ward-Prowse (especially dead ball situations) and we will need to play well once again to get the win we need. I'm loving the fact we are still in the hunt for 7th and Europe is on the horizon but I see a lot of people saying Wolves is the biggest game of the season. Not for me, tonight is the biggest game. Win tonight and then a point against Wolves would not be too bad, in fact if were to take 4 points from the next two I would prefer we drop points against Saints and beat Wolves.
I was too young to travel to the away games for our last European tour so am desperate to get a chance to go again. One thing thing this league teaches you is that no matter where you finish one season, it doesn't automatically mean you will keep doing that. You only have to look at WBA who finished 8th the year before relegation I believe so this could be our big chance, maybe our only one for a while, but lets hope we can grasp it with both hands.
Of course when we beat City league position won't matter so much!!

Yes amazing isn't it? Incredible achievement. From recollection, the last defeat vs non-top 6 was the defeat to Leicester at start of Dec.

Is it a little bit mad that I suspect it is more likely for Wolves to beat Arsenal than us to beat Saints? Southampton always cause us problems and are due a bit of luck against us. Arsenal are just garbage and, for once, I am all on board with Lawrenson’s prediction of a Wolves win (although I’d give arsenal a goal so 2-1).

We may yet pay for letting them and Manure off the hook as it looks like every other non top 6 team are dispatching them with ease. Almost makes our defeats to them look a bit embarrassing.

Not bothered about getting into Europe via 7th anyway. Will not stop Doucoure from leaving and will likely wreck next season.

Win tonight and that guarantees a top ten finish (ok not mathematically, but near as damn it). Win the next two that that will blow Wolves and Leicester out the water.

Then it will be straight fight between us a Everton. I'm expecting us to lose at Chelsea, and I think Everton will probably win their next two.

So final day, we'll both be on 55 points, but they have a plus 6 GD over us currently (thanks to their 4-0 win over United) and I don't see us chipping that down to size over two games.

But the final day will see Everton play at Spurs and we've got West Ham at home. Give me that scenario any day, as I think we'd have a brilliant chance of getting a result and I can't see Everton avoiding defeat.

It would be wonderful to pip Everton to 7th spot on the last day, and I can fully see that happening.

We are one of 4 chasing 7th. This week could effectively decide it. Failure to win tonight or Saturday and 7th is effectively gone.

Has anyone got a decent link to a site that just tells you when and where prem games are shown across bt and sky.
their sites are dogpoo and you spend ages navigating through pages of unrelated boring articles.
I just want a simple list of what games are on what channel and when. I don't care abou the cricket, rugby or highlights of some other demented show

    Or even if they lose.

If Wolves lose to Arsenal we need to capitalise; it puts more pressure on them and even gives us a route to 7th if we lose to them.

This game is huge from any angle.

Must win game and everyone at the club knows it. If we are serious about getting European football next season then we have to be at our best against Southampton. Their players are better than their current position and they will want to secure Prem football for next season as quick as possible. However they do have the comfort of a pretty easy run in compared to Brighton and Cardiff. One more win for Saints out of their remaining games will be more than enough.

Javi will have prepared the players, they know what’s on the line.

Tonight is a 100% must win. Massive game. We need to get at them and get on the front from the first whistle.

I have a feeling Wolves will lose tonight. They're in a rut and Arsenal need to bounce back (they're crap, but there's still a reason they're miles ahead of us and Wolves).

If we beat Southampton tonight and get a draw or better against Wolves I think 7th will be ours.
