Mick Mills, Chris Nicholl, Micky Channon, Steve Williams….we ran them so ragged they could barely drag themselves off the pitch.
He ignored that Chalobah was brought down for a blatant penalty + red card that would have swung the game in our favour if awarded.
Yes that was a blatant penalty - overlooked thanks to Charlie Austin's meltdown. I think the ref that day was the one who upset Man City on the weekend?
They got their revenge anyway when Djenepo (despite VAR) scooped the ball with his hand before setting up their winner in our relegation season
I’ve started looking forward to our games again. Can only mean one thing happens here. A proper embarrassing trouncing.
It all depends on us settling early. An early goal for us and I think we could give them a bit of a tonking.
The key to the victory on Saturday was taking control of the midfield, as we saw against Norwich last week the whole team started slow once the midfield duo (and the rest of the team) woke up Norwich didn't have a look in. The way I see it we can't afford to gift Southampton a head start like we did against Norwich so those two (and the rest) need to be on their top game from minute 1.
Not exactly. He said he gigged at "High Dudgeon" (iirc) and said it was a ********, and is "near Watford isn't it?"
We are in red hot form, but this weekend's foes are in white hot form, possibly even verging on blue hot. So it's a big ask. Interestingly Southampton (H) is the only Watford fixture that has ever happened on my birthday (due to the pandemic and my birthday being in the usual summer break). We lost handily that day, making it the first and hopefully last time my birthday has been ruined by a Watford result. I expect a similar result on Saturday. COYH
It's £20.00 to enter the Baths if you want a soak or a dip. Well that's going by last year's price, may of changed since.
Unless your weather is a lot different to down 'ere - it will be called off surely? Never seen road flooding like it.!! I remember a game at soton roughly 13 years ago - my memory's vague but I think we had 2 pens, looked good but lambert ran us ragged at every ball they lumped forward... (can't remember result?)
Rickie Lambert joined Southampton in the summer of 2009 after Southampton were relegated to League 1 and we only played them one season between then and our first season back in the Premier League, that must be the one you’re thinking of. You are right about Lambert running us ragged (he scored two in the home game and a hat trick in the return fixture) but I don’t know where you got us scoring two pens and looking good - we were outclassed in both fixtures, losing at St Mary’s 4-0 and then at the Vic 3-0, with Lambert scoring two penalties in the first game and another in the second!
Soton are going to get smashed like the Titanic. Their run is going to come to a swift, merciless end. Plane sailing for the Hornets. WFC 4-1 Soton.
We've not fared the best against teams that play with high pressing + possession (like ourselves) which on paper would normally mean we get battered. But Southampton have been a bit inconsistent and I think lack of a bit of bottle. Try and keep the ball to get them on the backfoot and get stuck in when we don't have it and we might cause a surprise. Still think we're gonna lose though
