Anyone else a member of the Facebook Skybet championship page? A Bournemouth fan has posted a similar pic saying he won £200.....not sure whether I'm reading it incorrectly or he is in fact implying its him....
http://inthewolfsmouth.com/2015/05/02/second-place-is-first-loser-sheff-weds-h-020515/ Sums up pretty much how I feel about today.
Posted one hour ago by a Jamie W.......don't want to put whole name on here but it's on the Sky Bet Championship Facebook page.....not impressed
Anyone seen any pictures of the foils? EDIT: Just seen it here but can't make out the words, what is it? http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/150502-gallery-watford-fc-v-sheff-wed-2437227.aspx
I was surprised on the Bournemouth forum to hear them saying Wednesday would be a good bet for the play offs next year. Really!?! Bar the Blackpool 2nd half I thought they were one of the worst teams I've seen. Maybe as it was the last day but the first half in particular it was like a training session. How we didn't get more goals, our players will be kicking themselves. Yes they got a draw, but I guess that's why we love football. Hopefully we'll pick up a few undeserved points next year to get us up to 40 points!
I know him. I am 200% sure of it. Worked at office until year and a bit ago. He supports QPR. I. Am. Really. Really. Pissed. Doesn't care for our club but decided to turn up to today's game and kowing him got pi$$ed beforehand. Wow. Couldn't see who it was from LGT but that. Wow. Strange as he smoked but he didn't take anything untoward otherwise. It was like a trance.
Just seen the penalty incident again. How that is not given is beyond a joke.
Stonewall. Even if the keeper "got the ball first", as people love to justify with, he still took Deeney out and prevented him from getting to the ball he was absolute favourite to get to. Another shocking Probert decision.
We could have gone into today's game already as champions had Probert done his job properly earlier in the season. Today he made sure he finished the job. Absolute farce that he was appointed in the first place, even worse that he was just as bad yet again. I don't want to see him refereeing any of our games ever again.
Yeah it really is a blatant pen, Deeney has no reason to go down, and if you look closely enough, Kirkland doesn't get the ball first, he makes contact with Deeney first before touching the ball. I have no doubt in my mind Probart knew it was a penalty but deliberately didn't give it.
Looks like Kirkland got the ball, I can see why Probert didn't give it. Won't stop me calling him a **** next season though. He and Mike Dean make sure they are the stars of the show whenever they ref a game.
Have always been a Mike Dean fan. He reffed our 2006 play off final and every time we have had him since I always feel he is on our side.
Sums it up really. If that had been Muff, they would have got the penalty and sending off. And the blatant offside Wednesday would have been disallowed. Congratulations Football League and Probert. You made absolutely sure we weren't crowned Champions yesterday.
We should have been 3 or 4 clear by half time but were not due to not taking our chances that's why we didn't win the league not because a penalty wasn't given.
I've been banging on about this type of thing for a long time now, and I hope it's just a little clearer to some people, that certain things are not quite right in this league. The FL have not liked us ever since the Pozzo's took over. Maybe it's because the club embarrassed them over the loan thing, I don't know, but something is not quite right. This season has actually not been too bad for controversial incidents, but the season under Zola was a complete farce. We had 18 penalties given against us that season, and only 6 given for, which is a ridiculous stat considering we ended 3rd and had scored the most goals in the league. Those decisions cost us promotion and we were not treated evenly and fairly. This season there has been the Probert matches, and it's obvious he has some sort of vendetta against the club, for whatever reason, who knows, but he cost us the title. I am just thankful he did not have any further influence over us and had he officiated a couple more games then I'm sure we would not have finished second. So today I feel relieved that we have managed to leave the clutches of the Football League, who have tried their best to put as many obstacles in our path as they legally could to stop us achieving success. Unfortunately Probert will be following us, but there's nothing we can do about that one. As a fan, I do not want any favours from anyone, but I don't want to see my team denied what is rightfully theirs. If anyone can find the penalty incident Probert gave against us at Bournemouth then compare it to the one he didn't give yesterday, please post it. Is there a conspiracy right across the board against the club....absolutely not, but if you ask is there something not quite right, or is there some anti-Watford feeling amongst some people in powerful positions, then I would have to conclude there is. The polar opposite can be said of Bournemouth, who everyone seems to love. 17 penalties given only 1 against....tells its own story here.
TBF The 2 penalties they got against us were pretty clear cut - a few others certainly less so! They won't have as much of the ball so won't attack so much next season... Trouble for us next season will be officials not knowing who our guys are but being best mates with the top stars.
Bournemouth were everyone's fairy tale dream this season, and they got a lot of favours along the way. Next season that will stop. There is no way they'll be getting 17 penalties in the Premier league, and it will be a totally different experience for them. They are a good side, but a good side that get all the decisions.....it makes a huge difference spread over an entire season. For us, if we get bad decisions, it wont be anything new, so there will be no surprises for us and I think we'll handle it better. It will be hard for us though, no matter what happens, but we'll have Bournemouth alongside us and hopefully Brentford (fingers crossed for that one). You want as many small clubs up there as possible, as it makes it a little easier for us to compete with in the mini league we'll no doubt be playing in.
Malteser - thanks for all the stats this season. Perhaps I'm a bit of a saddo but I've looked forward to your post match stats. Still gutted about the result yesterday. Yesterday was also the day that we saw that Almen is human afterall which is heartbreaking all on its own. Onwards to the Premier league my friends!
It's been a wonderful, wonderful season..one of the best I've ever known..and I woke up this morning so sad that most of the talk is once again about iffy refereeing decisions, a few idiots in the crowd and how 'lucky' Bournemouth are perceived to be. That's not a dig at the discussion on the forum by the way, but of the events of yesterday that have caused the discussion. Such a pity that such a great season ended on a note of anticlimax. It's our first promotion season since 1981-82 where we haven't won our final match, and therefore been able to leave the Vic/Wembley/Cardiff on a real high. But so be it. We've said goodbye to the Championship, hopefully for a long time. I'll miss the excitement of it, the three matches in a week, the immediate chances to bounce back from a poor result, I'll miss the winning matches so often feeling, but I won't miss the refs or some of the stadia.
Yup, that was yesterday. We can't change anything and so we now look forward knowing that the history books will show we won most games this year and missed the trophy by a single point. It was close but we just lost out and our disappointment is immense because we all knew we could and should have won it. A lesson learned for next season. So we can sit back, enjoy the playoffs and know that behind the scenes the club will be working their socks off to make sure next season is even more successful than this one. Life is good folks ... enjoy the next chapter!
I missed yesterday's march for communistic agitating reasons, so let's see if I've got this all correct... Sheffield Wednesday are to blame for not rolling over and allowing themselves to be tonked in the style that could be reasonably expected of any team with a scintilla of honour, compassion and respect. Lee Probert is to blame for spitefully and maliciously failing to award us an obvious penalty as part of his personal hate campaign against Watford. An unfortunate brainstorm caused him to reverse polarity in the final seconds and blow for time as Wednesday were about to punt it into an empty net and deprive us of any points at all. Something no doubt he's cursing himself about at this very moment. The shadowy FA conspirators are to blame. Mortally offended at our use of the loan system, they have decided to move heaven and earth to prevent us gaining promotion. Only for their powerful tentacles of corruption to fail miserably in their objective and have to content themselves with the bitter consolation of denying us the title. I can just picture the meeting they'll have about us now. Planning our premiership pummelling. Almen Abdi is to blame. Oh Almen. :dismay: Some fat lad is to blame. Our defence, momentarily mesmerised by this intruder and unable to make sense of it all, are still puzzling to themselves as they fail to clear a bouncing ball from the crowded area. A flare chucker is to blame. But not the flare chucker's son. The light from the flare temporarily dazzled our defence and unable to make sense of it all, etc.... So is that me just about caught up?
Can't be bothered to type out a full post but pretty much agree with this. Was absolutely gutted but had to remember we're still promoted, seemed like we'd been relegated! Vydra should never have been subbed off, he was the best player on that pitch but Deeney doesn't get subbed off does he? 85th minute smoke bombs when we haven't won anything? Mexican waves? Wednesday fans singing "we're AFC Bournemouth". Right up there in regards to football cringe. The players seemed to be already on the beach, we didn't have that extra 5-10% that we've been seeing in the past couple months. We had loads of chances to score more but failed. Good on Roy and the 1881 for sorting out the foil display and flags etc, had no idea what the message was so had to ask Roy later in the day in the pub. Good to see a lot of people out afterwards as well, all the pubs were rammed so it spilt out onto the street. Surprised the police allowed it for as long as it went on.
I was right in front of this and I origionally thought Deeney had a bad first touch and then went down fairly easily but from the slowmo its clear he took a second touch and it was a defo pen. Perhaps the ref thought it was the keepers hand on the ball and not Deeneys touch which was the second impact... Either way the red was again ! Sh!te
Hey, it could be worse. We could be having to discuss play off tickets like the Derby fans...err :]] http://dcfcfans.uk/topic/18771-play-off-home-leg-tickets/
Missed the game because you were waving a Socialist Worker placard at nobody who gives a ****, making yourself feel righteous. PRIORITIES PAL.
