Agree abour Pedro. Success aint a natural CF. Would rather have Gray than Success there. I thought Success was brought into the side for Sema to play wide left. Pedro left and Success up front wrong way round for me.

You have to create the luck TUT. They almost conceded an own goal a few minutes beforehand. After we scored we seemed to fall asleep for long periods. And let them play. Before the break we would have humped them I think. Borner was lucky not to get a red. One nasty foul early on Sarr as ordered by the management and then hauled him down late on. And no Owl hoodoo today. :)

Wendesday were a lot better than I thought they were going to be to be honest, I think we just about deserved the win. Nice to have a bit of a wake up call and still win though. Keeps the pressure on those chasing massively too.

Navigating this game and getting the points is massive. We will get back to our level over the next few games.

    Brilliant.

not a great game off the pace and no real threat , however great result clean sheet 3 points and Norwich drew.

Cant help thinking that if Success has been better we would have score 2 or 3 in the first half and probably then gone on to win by 4 or 5

I don’t think we deserved the luck today but am very happy to take it. Also lucky that our poorest performance for some time came against our poorest opponents between now and the season’s end. Imagine if we’d played like that vs Brentford or Norwich !

I'd take that win any day.

    Over to the chasing pack.

Points on the board far better than games in hand.

File this one in the "fairly poor but gives a toss as long as we won" folder
Thought we were pretty comfortable throughout and they only really had one chance. Better team won but it was a poor game. I also thought Bannan aside, Wednesday were awful. Take him out of the team and they had nothing. To be fair though, Bannan was the best player on the park and should not be playing in a side that could well go down
Massive pressure on Brentford and Swansea now. A defeat for either would leave them a mountain to climb.
Bl00dy nerve racking to watch, certainly worse watching on TV than being at the ground

Agree, he's definitely not a finisher. And had his best (only?) good season as a wide forward for Granada.

Not a great performance but important to continue the winning run after the break. At this time of the season all about the points. Suddenly a big gap to Swansea 9pts and Brentford 1o pts. i know they have games in hand but much better for us to have the points in the bag.

There is a huge difference in class between the top of the Premier League and the bottom with a lot of expected results, however in the Championship its not the case, all teams at the bottom seem to put up a good fight all the time, apart from the Bristol City (H) game and Rotherham (A) we really haven't steam-rolled over any teams, I am just thankful that it is us that have won 10 out of the last 11! Poor game, didn’t really get going in fairness. Banana was very impressive for them. Success was woeful again. If Pedro is unavailable for Monday I’d play Gray through the middle with Sarr and Sema either side.

Scrappy, slightly ponderous but winning is all as we know.
Hughes our best player but what a ball from AM to Freddie and a great cross for the og.
Pedro unlucky not to score in the first half and why in the name of all that is gracious didn't Success shoot?
Bannan looked good and if I were a cynical person I'd suggest he was playing for a move.
    I hope JP is ok.
Kavanagh looked better when he had his wig and longer hair I thought.
Glad the fans didn't run on the pitch this time.
I'm not sure I'm ready for Monday!

Few will say it for fear of tempting fate or being made to look stupid etc..

But I think deep down we all know that if we blow promotion from here, we will look back for the rest of our lives knowing we truly messed up.

We’ve won 11 out of 12 now. It’s a better run than we saw in any of our three other promotion seasons into the PL.

    We are a winning machine.

How must our rivals see us, knowing we are almost unbeatable at home and much improved on the road? Anything they manage to do, we are matching, if not bettering them.

The law of averages says we won’t win every match left. Almost impossible to record 13 in a row. But with each victory we notch up, we are building a nice little gap over the chasing pack, which means any dropping of points doesn’t need to be fatal.

Somebody asked me today if I was nervous. I told them, no. Nervous was last season, the terrible fear of relegation, of dropping out of the biggest league in world football. Nervous was the play off finals in 99 and 05. Nervous was promotion last time out, when it was two of us from four and we all had that terrible fear of ‘what if we get so so close and yet..’.

This time it’s only excitement. Excitement that we’re on such a great run, looking more comfortable than ever in the top two and knowing that just possibly we could have this sealed with a few games still to play.

Sorry if I’m the one tempting fate and risking looking a fool * in a few weeks time , but this is ours now to lose and I don’t believe for one second that we will.

    * more of a fool than usual ;)

Poor game and extremely boring to watch at home on the sofa. However, I would have taken a lackluster narrow win before the game. We had plenty of players away on international duty who probably hadn't had enough time to integrate back properly and hadn't trained with the squad so I was fully expe ting the performance to be a little bit disjointed and off pace. We did enough and I couldn't see Sheffield Wednesday scoring but we need to be better on Monday.

In terms of the relative danger we were in and how well we did holding them at bay when required, it's one of those fundamental things, isn't it: I am perfectly happy, ecstatic even, for my team to professionally 'see the game out', and in that period today we did. But I do not at any point in my life for one second ever want to have to go through the experience of watching my team 'see the game out' (even though I, and we, now have done several times...)

Winning games when not playing well... there is a footballing chiche in there somewhere.

Time to become a Birmingham / Huddersfield fan for the next 24 hours.

I still think 90 points could be the total required, which is a tall order, but this unprecedented run is giving us a fighting chance.

Any chance we can get Rhodes? Looks decent. If Sheff Wed do go down, and likewise we go up, maybe a backup striker, or one to replace Deeney?

I kind of look at it the opposite way. We’ve been on such a good run that a downturn in form would be expected sooner or later. If we blow it from here, we really blew it in the first half of the season, being too cautious then accommodating Deeney. If we’d played our best players in our best formation from day one we’d probably be promoted by now.

Confidence is definitely part of it, how many times today and against Brum did he overplay the ball when the chance was there? Better from him today, although I'd still rather have JP central and Sema out on the left as usual. Quick word on Gray, another good job seeing the game out off the bench I thought, a nice option to have with 5-10 minutes to go

True enough TUT. I expect we will see the same from other sides. Norwich seemed to have had a hangover as well. I am sure Xisco and Cuesta will have told the players and the players know it themselves that they can play far better and at a higher level than that which they showed today. I am pretty certain we will see a fair amount of the rustiness slough off on Monday lunchtime. Boro are effectively out of playoff contention so either could lie down which is unlikely especially as Warnock is in charge or just play with freedom. Both would suit us fine as we are better with teams coming onto us.

Reading your post I firstly thought, good gosh has SkylaRose lost the plot, but no if the club think that having a 37 year old Murraymint on loan made sense this season I am sure a 31 year old Rhodes would be acceptable as back-up next season!

NB however at no time did I consider it actually made any sense us having Murray on loan this season!
