The main Watford Observer match day reporter hates Watford, you can tell by the way he writes his reports and ratings. Think he's either a scummer or a Manchester United fan as he often overrates Garner.

I thought I'd made the most positive post of the thread so far, to be honest.

I feel like it's only fair to note that, despite Keith Andrews having been drummed out quicksharp by Slavisa back in 2014 and ostracized from our squad for being a ballbag, basically, he was both well-informed on what's been going on since/recently with the club, and very fair himself when discussing us - no 'what are the owners doing' hand-wringing and a very measured perspective on us - no bitterness on show at all.

I want to apologise about how negative I was towards our chances in the match preview. Football is a funny old game.

The pre-match talking discussing our net spend compared to Norwich since 2015 really wound up me up where they basically had a go at us for spending 150m more than Norwich in that time - no **** we had 3 seasons more than them in the PL, of course we're gonna be spending more.

One last time - my OP stated that Moog et all had written him off as **** before he had kicked a ball for us. It then got twisted (by Chumlax initially) to relate to something about losing the dressing room. At no stage did I ever mention the dressing room - that was the point I was disputing.

The original conversation is on page 9 of this thread. Go and read it if you care that much about it but suspect you won't.

No, it was just in the post you were replying to. Might be worth falling on your sword here mate.

You can now try and reframe/twist it to be specifically about the fact that you never said 'dressing room' as a desperate last throw of the dice, but it's very clear now and at the time that 'dressing room' is in this context being used as a metonym for the squad and each player's role in it - something that you directly stated was influenced by 'Moog et al', as I have already re-shown in a comment, by replying to a post asking why Sierralta had been deemed 5th choice, answering that it was 'because Moog et al had written him off'.

Your first post after the game last night admitted that you were 'pissed', so why don't you just chalk it up to that instead of scrabbling around like this the next day still trying to pretend you didn't say what you said?

Yeah, I completely agree - I complained annoyedly to my brother at the time that it was meaningless as it was completely devoid of context.

That’s where Holt was a useless pundit from a Norwich perspective, as he completely failed to (or didn’t understand) the difference in spend was exactly why Norwich got relegated both times, and that in fact is their strategy

Because I clearly didn't say anything about the "dressing room or Moog et al's influence on it"

Well, If you you use Google Translate, as I'm guessing some of us do, cajones translates as 'drawers'. However, switch it around a bit and you can come up with 'cojones', meaning 'boll*cks'. And Deeney said it, not wrote it. Or you could have 'testiculos' for 'testicles'.
But none of that really rings right, does it? What did he mean? - bottle? guts? spirit? Try translating them.
    How about 'fight' - 'lucha'?
But his target audience were English - and we knew what he meant.
And he was right: Arsenal lacked the spirit. Where he was wrong was in saying it in public.

I thought we got exactly what we all hoped for... A proper team performance, we've got our team back.
Not just that, we got a deserved win against the top team who have been going great lately so I couldn't have asked for any more.
There's clearly a spark in the whole team now, the subs were celebrating the win at the end which I haven't seen before.
My only negative was our continued inability to cross a ball, from corners or from open play. We always overhit the ball by about 25 yards. In my day I could usually get the ball to roughly where I wanted it, so why can't Pros? Are the balls so ridiculously light?

Anyway I am very happy right now and confident we've got some great games to come....

Well deserved win. Stifled their midfield. Defended in depth and narrow which Norwich did not exploit playing through the middle constantly. Two upfront is automatic from now on. Great to see the pitch opened up with width. Delivery was better and we got Sarr into open space quicker with balls from Capoue and Kiko.

Accuracy of crosses was better and we should probably have had a couple of goals from it. What a difference having two strikers in the box makes. Sarr made his run unmarked into the area. Good wing play from him all game barring the poor pass to Gray on the Norwich give away.

Wilmot was outstanding at the back. Needs to be kept on in a back two to develop. And we did not sit on the lead unlike under Ivic. Nice tactical fouls in midfield when needed but it is an area despite Capoue pulling the strings from deep as he should be able to that needs improvement. Also set pieces were pretty poor. And let's not get carried away as most are not Norwich are one of the few teams in this division that will come at us allowing space in behind.

Munoz will need to work hard on breaking teams down who defend in depth against us. It requires better accurate passing and at a high tempo, width to be maintained and retaining a front two. Pleased obviously as punch for Munoz but it will take time for his imprint to be left but a pleasing start nonetheless. One thing that stood out was the effort. More of that please in every game.

What you fail to understand is that the people you are accusing of being bedwetters only want what is best for the club. One result does not mask a series of decisions in the recent past that have been poor on and off the pitch.

That somehow attacking the hierarchy and certain players means these posters want the club to fail. They may want the odd result to be poor in order to force changes. Plenty of fans at other clubs have done the same. Some may resort to boycotts and demonstrations others want one result or so to be poor as to force changes. If supporters act like doormats as they often do at this club they will get ignored. The hierarchy need to realize that outside their bubble not everyone thinks the situation is rosy.

I repeat once again there is nothing more than all of us would like is to see the club playing superlative football, getting the results that assure automatic promotion and better still a trophy as our cabinet is pretty bare.

Hughes and Caps really are the only decent midfielders we have.

Cleverley's effort can't be faulted though.

Watford fans actively wanting Watford to lose matches, ridiculing those who wanted to give Xisco time before writing him off as a 'competition winner' but god forbid they suffer a little light mocking when we win a game.

Surely it was a tougher night for the like's of yourself and others who consistently said us 'bedwetters' were wrong and 'entitled' for wanting Ivic gone weeks/months ago. If you'd had your way, he'd still be in charge no doubt...

Our opinions on Ivic were shown to be correct. Bit odd to see the results of that claimed as a victory for yourselves!

    Another pedantic post.

You BWs really are a sensitive bunch.

Just be happy that we won a game we all expected to lose . That is after all the point of supporting football .

I found running into the corner flag at the end a bit disappointing , I understand why we did it , but its not like we are even any good at holding the ball in the corner, would rather we had another couple of shots - this however is a minor complaint compared to previous games.

Best performance of the season, arguably the only time this season we’ve actually been able to call what our players have put out a performance. Thought Sierralta was very impressive, him being the size of a fridge freezer means he can get in the way of most things, we’ve needed an absolute unit at the back since Prodl fell apart, bringing in the South American version of him could prove to be a rare plus point by whoever it is who brings players to us.

Swansea away will be tough, a point there and we can start to get excited, 4 from the first 2 games for Xisco will be an excellent return considering they’re 2 of the toughest games of the season. The togetherness at the end was the main plus point for me, haven’t seen a togetherness like that for a very long time.

Good end to what was an absolutely horrendous year for our club and all of us personally, gives us good reason to hope that 2021 will take a great steaming dump over 2020. Oh, and scum lost.

I agree with most of this however Cuddly's ball enabled Freddie to score and Freddie put in a great ball in the second half from a TC ball into space.
I think this is a little harsh, aside from the ball he put into space that Freddie ran onto he had other decent moments in all areas of the pitch.

Oh it's 'bullying' if we do it though.

But I do love the logic. We could lose 20 games in a row with one coach and when we won the 21st, LittleRoss would pop up to say 'told you so'.
