Some of the squad had to quarantine so will be behind the group - Suarez, Estupinan, Sarr, 2 of Ivics assistants also... Hughes & Wilmot coming back from injury. I don't think you can read too much into it.

It's interesting that Sierralta did join then.

 

Pretty sure Estupinan is only just back in training so I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't play. Obviously there would be lots of changes in the second half, so I'd imagine we shifted to a 4-5-1/4-3-3

 

Also it is just the starting lineup. We still don't know who the subs were.

 

Embarrassing for Scunthorpe losing to that.

Genuinely believe that team would give us a real chance of finishing bottom half.

 

Let’s be wary - people saying next week will have a more settled first team look about it - but if there’s interest in Deeney, Sarr, Estupinan, Surarez, Capoue and Doucoure...that’s leaves...pretty much that line-up.

I suspect the media blackout was maybe because Sierralta maybe trialling with us? And perhaps others (Perica, Ekong) maybe were subs?

 

They still have not named the starting team or even who else came on, other than Suarez which in itself is one bit of good news.

 

All players mentioned fit in with that rumoured starting team. Wouldn’t read too much in to it given the injuries and quarantines etc.

 

The fact that we didn’t score 8 is abysmal.

I'm hoping some of those were starting to get a final chance to impress and be considered for contention for a starting spot, before likely being replaced by either new signings or some of our "stars" being retained and put in the team.

It's a concern Capoue didn't play, hopefully it is just because we already know his quality and they wanted to see how DB coped as the DM.

Good that Deeney didn't feature. Though is he still recovering?

Also good that Suarez got a cameo, too soon for him to play more?

 

I only liked your quote because I basically agree with you, only good thing was that Suarez came on 2nd half, so it looks like he is going to be with us this season.

How do you know that’s the only good thing? We could have brought on other encouraging subs?

 

Suarez played a few minutes as a sub in a friendly so will definitely be staying.

 

I've just read through the entire thread, knowing nothing when I started. It was very exciting. What would the score be Who was playing? A real thriller that kept me guessing to the end.

 

Ok, the team we apparently started with will not get anywhere near a promotion spot, probably will be in another relegation battle, however, hopefully that will not be anything like the team we'll be using during the campaign.

Looking at the positives, Suarez played, it looks as though Estupinan will be part of things, Ngakia scored and looks like a really good signing, Sema will be part of things which I consider a good thing, Foster looks like he's staying. This is all positive.

We do need to retain a few of those "big" players though, as the team looks extremely weak without them. You should be able to add Pedro to the lineup as well as hopefully Sarr, who will be huge for us. I still think Deulofeu will be with us until January as well, so we may as well use him.

The only reason we played Scunthorpe was to make our kit look good. Theirs looks like it was supplied by shop that does school uniforms.

The line-up will reflect who has been back in training the longest and stayed free of pulls and strains.

I'd wouldn't read anything into it other than those players are currently at the club.
