Ok? While on loan, he was a lot better than ok.

 

Funny player Danny Webber; in flashes could be unplayable at other times bloody frustrating. Most of us would have thought he would have gone on to better things after Watford, but he really just become a journeyman nobody.

My favourite Webber goal was away at Crewe when we were bottom of he league, not long after the passing of his close mate Jimmy Davis. After scoring a well taken goal he ran to and almost jumped in with away fans whilst seeming close to tears. There were not more than 700 Watford fans there that day but was emotional.

 

I remember when he was on loan and absolutely ripped Coventry to shreds - think we won 5-2. He scored a beautiful goal that day and created another 2 or 3 with his pace and movement. When we managed to sign him, it really seemed like an incredible coup. He started really well when he signed permanently and scored a few goals at the start of the season, then had that shoulder injury and it never seemed to happen for him after that - although he was playing in a team that was really struggling. Thought he was beginning to have a decent partnership with HH when he was sold. Seemed a strange deal at the time when we swapped him for Culip.

He's had a decent career though and played at a good level. Really thought he was going to be somebody who made it back to the Prem though.

 

In the last few years, we've had good loans from Man Utd (Foster, Cleverley, Kuszczak), Arsenal (Lansbury), Chelsea (Chalobah), Middlesborough (Johnson), Fulham (Kacaniklic) and Sunderland (Nosworthy), QPR (Helguson) plus probably some more that I'm forgetting about.

Out of those clubs, Man Utd have clearly sent us the most good players so I think we should support them and their manager. Maybe we should chant their name...

So if a club loans us players we have to like them?

"Like" is too weak a word. 'Worship' is more appropriate, so stop complaining and be thankful you ungrateful little peasant.

 

I agree. Let's build a statue of Sir Alex Ferguson in the allotments - at the very least it'll scare the birds away.

 

hopefully only the many ugly ones.. that won't leave many women going to the Vic then.. If the wfc birds were fit and horny they would have called it the arouse stand..

 

I've read so many football books/blogs/articles by fans of various clubs, all saying they have memories of walking up past the allotments to The Vic. Was this all to do with Watford Stadium station (now defunct) being located to the south of the ground? I must say it pre-dates my fandom.

 

i fink it was more to do with being able to park da feckin car anywhere anytime without getting a ticket or being towed away.
