Zeegelaar was proper **** (apart from one game against Newcastle) but the other 2 would definitely have added something to our squad this season

 

Seen it suggested that we could loan some of our star players to Udinese next season to keep them happy for us (can't see Sarr, Doucouré etc. wanting to play championship football) while we push for promotion back to the prem. Quite a smart idea, but I don't see it happening.

 

Depends on the money we are offered. I think Gino would rather have them at Udinese for a year than sell for less than he wants for them.

 

Zeegelar a winger?

 

I would have loved to see Okaka as an alternative to Deeney. Big strong good in the air and much more of a goalscoring threat! Sema seemed to lack quality and pace, but he worked hard and seemed to care. Not sure about Zeegelar though we didn't see much of hiom when he was here, but again he seemed to care!

 

I had assumed that’s exactly what will happen, just not necessarily to Udinese, however it wouldn’t surprise me if a few go there. It’s the Pozzo model, they hate selling cheap duds at a loss and prefer to loan them out, so they’ll hate selling more expensive players a whole lot more.

 

This would be great. I might sign up to the Udinese forum and learn Italian just to wait for the Italian Ian Holloway ranting abot how it's not fair. Imagine the hand gesturing.

Yes worth getting Sema back to plug the gaps left by Pereyra, Sarr and ultimately GD leaving us.

 

Okaka was an alternative to Deeney for years and couldn’t cut it. He looks leaner now so the argument can be made that he was unprofessional whilst here in that regard.

Udinese have been poor all season, in a league vastly inferior to the PL. Yes they beat Juve, but we beat Liverpool. I really wouldn’t read too much into winning this one game.

 

Doucoure and Sarr will want to play for better teams, let's be real.

 

Vastly inferior? Have you seen how weak the EPL is this year?

 

It’s still nothing on the dross of Serie A. The few at the top are decent and would match most of the top sides here. But outside of those few, as hard as it is to believe, the general standard here is far better.

 

Shame, I used to enjoy watching Italian Football on a Sunday morning, in the 90s. Had some excellent sides and players.

 

Would be a good way for the Pozzos to keep Udinese sweet, obviously they don't particularly like us lol. Pretty unlikely as I doubt our 'star' players would be up for moving there (even now it's something of a sideways move), would be an interesting move albeit very risky, if we don't go up next season while keeping the likes of Sarr, Deulofeu etc on the books, their value will plummet for the season after

 

Sema would be great for us in the Championship

 

Much of Serie A may be Championship standard these days, but it's bloody exciting to watch, far better than what the Premier League has become. The Premier League may legitimately be 'the best league in the world', but who really cares when so many of the matches (many of which include us to be brutally honest) are so dull?

Which is most likely why the "project" / "setup" / "model" has hit the buffers here. Udinese have been crap for years but always survive with a few games to go, even with the likes of Zeegelaar. The managerial chop and change and scattergun transfer approach don't cut it in the premier league long term.

 

What a team Udinese must have had back in 2014 when they could afford to gift us their reserves Abdi, Vydra, Forestieri and Angella. The fact that our 3 rejects get game time now shows how far they must have fallen and how **** the quality is at the bottom of Serie A.

 

Indeed. Doucoure has pissed me off this season. Would wish Sarr the best, as long as he doesn't throw his dummy out of the pram!

I seem to remember Udinese fans thinking they were all *****. They couldn't believe how much we loved Abdi. I'm sure they have some other players knocking around that could do a job in the championship. They did also have Granada back then too.
