Little difference. And we want to make a difference, don't we.[/QUOTE] You're right of course. Just a small difference/improvement in our striker and we'd see a big difference in results, as so much good stuff happens around him. Regards Deeney, it's time to go. He had three and a half very good seasons for us but has now been under par for 18 months. I personally don't subscribe to the view that he'll always be a club legend, as that accolade is bestowed at the end of your Watford career and if he finishes up with as many half arsed performances as good ones then he won't make it in my book.
always a chance he’d win us a penalty with his Fabrini Flop. Surprised that saint Eddie didn’t sign him.
I've no clue where he is now. Where did it all go wrong for him? I thought he was thought of as a God in brum.
He's now at Real Oviedo in the Segunda Division. I say "at" but he hasn't actually made an appearance as he suffered a serious injury before the season started.
He won't go anywhere as he's too egotistical to take a cut in wages and no-one will pay him what we currently do. He will sit here until 2022 picking up his fat wage being a bit part player. Who would want to buy a striker with questionable fitness levels, questionable discipline and who offers absolutely no goal threat in open play?
Marvellous! So we have a not fit for purpose footballer and captain, raking in 100k a week and no sign of him toddling off any time soon? I really hope you are wrong SLB because an athlete's raison d'être is to perform. He will have a long time to reflect on this path,if you are correct. If he is lucky,he will have a long retirement and even if he is as rich as Croesus it will not compensate for lack of playing time. We all need to EARN our money. Someone once said to me 'play as much as you can for as long as you can'. I hope Troy does as he will surely regret it if he doesn't. Trouble seems to be he hasn't played for a good year or more!
It appears that Everton are now after Cenk Tosun a striker in Turkey according to the Guardian. Still hopeful that a Midlands side such as WBA or Villa will bid for Deeney in January. I expect he will go for 15 million max.
Troy has always has my backing. But not anymore. He needs to be shifted ASAP, along with the other muppet Gray. There's still teams desperate enough to splash the cash on these two. Have no doubt troy is still worth well over the 20m mark. Gray we could still recoup what we paid. The Leicester game proved we can moved forward without them both
I largely agree. I am grateful for Deeney's services to the club but he is clearly in decline. I have lost patience with Gray but expect he will stay a bit longer. His first touch is generally poor, to me doesn't look quick, tricky or have the right attributes for EPL. I would like Okaka to stay as at least our third striker as he is awkward, unpredictable and looks hungry to score. Defenders look worried by him as he is not only a unit but is pretty skilful and holds it up. Something Deeney used to do. Apart from his nerve at taking penalties I sadly don't think we would miss Troy.
I don't see it as Deeney's decline, but Watford's change in style. He'll do a good job somewhere, as I still believe he could do a good job here if we played the right style. I have been saying since Quique that his importance to the team as a leader was diminished. Now, with Silva's style, so has his relevance. We need to get in a striker that fits Silva's style, if there is such a think out there.
In the current market he's worth £12-15m to an ambitious Championship club, based on his excellent record at that level.
Even in these crazy times, no-one is going to pay anywhere near £20 million (plus match his Watford wages) for a 29 year old striker who has been suspended for 7 games this season and has scored 7 goals in open play in his last 54 Premier League games. And is overweight.
No chance. He did his falling over around the halfway line, and hardly ever got near the penalty area.
He wad a god in Boro when he first arrived, and Anya said he did amazing things in training. But in matches.....
Sorry, but the footballing world is that mental. We paid nearly that for Gray and with Troy you get a captain. Big fat Sam will think ‘he’s only 29, good injury record, we can reboot him’, providing both parties can be squeezed into the same office for the signing.
Honestly we need a dislike button on this forum. The one eyed anti Deeney ******** is getting ridiculous.
I'm not sure if anyone on here watches football or it's all sarcasm? We'd get no more than 5 million for Gray? Bonkers!! The least he'd go for is £10 million, Middlesborough, Leeds, Wolves, Villa & Fulham just off the top of my head would take him in The Championship. The likes of Everton, West Brom, Brighton, Stoke, Newcastle & West Ham all have a spare £20 million lying around for Deeney as well.
