I think you are right, but there isn’t a single position on the pitch we couldn’t improve on, (with the possible exception of Sarr at our budget) so it’ll mostly come down to who is available to us and within our means.
Agreed. Massina started the season as a crocked and perceived poor/slow LB, but he was our most improved player over the whole season. That tackle n our box where he tackled from behind but scooped the ball away preventing a goal was seriously good. OK he doesn't scream down the wing on the overlap but we don't need that, we want a strong defender. Also his height comes in handy. I think this was the year he knuckled under and learned how to play LB. His attitude is also good.... He's now one of ours and I like the guy, esp after that goal celebration at Cardiff.!!
I argued this point last week and was quite correctly refuted by many on here. There is little to suggest he is unfancied by Arteta as opposed to just being used carefully following a long injury lay-off.
It's weird that so many suggestions on here tend to be mostly sh*t players from Arsenal. Like our fans have a super special interest in them for some reason.
Yeah but it's a sign of our increasing stature that they're now after the Bellerins and Martinellis of this world rather than the Wilshires.
I've been reading about Felipe Anderson who I had completely forgotten about. Going from one of the best players in Serie A with Lazio to only managing 4 games on loan to Porto. He's definitely back at West Ham during the Summer. He'd be a massive gamble but if he could find the first season form for the hammers and obviously Lazio form he could be worth a cheeky bid, one year left on his contract and some outlets have said anything between 7 and 10m. The way they lost money on Haller anything is possible I suppose.
I think that's a 'betting a significant amount of money on Leicester to win the title in July 2015' level gamble, to be honest
Bit harsh this. Last summer we had several posters with an encyclopedic knowledge of Man Utd u23’s. They’ll feel hard done by if Arsenal are considered the main club of choice for Watford fans.
I'm amazed he's still only just turned 28, but there are times when he makes even Bobby Pereyra look enthusiastic.
Don't really get why people want to sign mid table quality players on wages four or five times what they are actually worth. Feel like there is a lot of recommendations based on their profile / FIFA cards because I can't get how anyone can watch Arsenal and actually want these players.
Yes I suppose he's not really the type we should be looking at attitude wise. But he was unbelievable sometimes for Lazio. Another wasted talent.
Adam Armstrong. He's a bit foxy boxy, reminds me a wee bit of Danny Ings. Probably not the cheapest option.
More chance of Alexander I'd say. That would either be great, classic or pointless depending on your view!
Reports last week that Richarlison not ticking boxes with Everton? Put in a cheeky £18m for him, would love to see a front 3 of Sarr/Pedro/Richarlison..they could do some proper damage next season.!! Ok stupid etc and would never happen but we can dream.....
Reckon we should enquire about Hudson-Odoi on loan. Long-shot but Tuchel doesn't seem to fancy him and a year on loan in the PL would do him a lot of good.
I doubt he'll become available for loan, but if he does and Chelsea want him to get minutes on the right then they'd be well advised to send him elsewhere.
This fella looks interesting. Plays all over the front three and scores goals in all positions. Contract finishes Summer 22 at Besiktas. LW 8 goals 3 assists CF 9 goals 1 assist RW 6 goals 1 assist
I read it but assume it was the owner just trying to chivy him up after a few poor games.? (I was talking tongue in cheek about getting him.....)
This guy looks a bit good to me!!! Fast; Strong, Two Footed and good in the air, it's a yes from me!!!
Barca aren't in the best financial shape and keen to offload a lot of players, both on loan and/or permanent. A couple of names in particular appear potentially useful and feasible. Season loans with options to buy could be shrewd moves for both. First is Brazilian midfielder Matheus Fernandes, he appears a potential Capoue/Doucoure-hybrid in the way he moves and his general style of play. Signed by Barca for €7 mil in Jan 2020, he's only made 1 sub appearance for them in the CL this season. Still only 22 with a lot of potential. Second is Martin Braithwaite. Never been hugely prolific, but has still scored goals wherever he's been, has plenty of pace and a good work ethic. Can play as both striker and left-forward. Knows English football from a spell at Middlesbrough. Soon to be 30 though so one for hopefully an immediate impact. Some highlights from this season at Barca: Plus a nice goal he scored for Denmark vs Israel a couple of months ago: A third name for a player destined to be loaned out by them again who could be an option is 23 year-old attacking-midfielder Carles Alena who did alright for Getafe this season, though I'm less convinced he's what we need and reckon there should be better options available in his role.
What about a loan offer for Ryan Sessegnon at Spurs as a left back / left winger - his career has stagnated and a Pozzo type signing (doubt we have the cash to sign him permanently) wages should be affordable... circa £40k pw ? Maybe we can offer regular football and he can kick on again
