A place to discuss things tomorrow/today as they do (or don’t happen) for both Watford and others. Also, maybe we could add our thoughts beforehand briefly: Fear? Joao Pedro and/or Sarr departing. Hope? RWB and attacking midfielder added. Expectation? Couple of links, minor departures, no incomings. Non-WFC thoughts? Tielemans to Liverpool.
Fear? We bring in 3 more players that don’t improve the side. Joao is sold with 4 mins to go Hope? A decent defensive and midfield option is added Expectation? About as exciting as last season and nothing happens at all Non-WFC thoughts? How are all the three relegated sides in the top 4.
Minor deals like Peñaranda to Ibiza on loan will be confirmed, maybe Kalu to Udinese. Maybe another link to Nandez as we were on deadline day last season. No incomings.
*WTE to leave. * Udinese loan us a right back, bouyed by their victory tonight. * Klopp to buy a set of gold teeth.
There have to be some minor deals done. Out Penaranda to some holiday destination Rose to Spurs U21's Pussetto to Udinese....on loan of course Kalu to retirement home WTE to be Emmanuel Dennis' minder Mattie Pollock to a League One club on loan Dapo Mebude back to Scotland on loan In Hurtado but not for this season Spoiler: The big one Ebosele on loan from Udinese
I can definitely see WTE go or maybe it's more hope. But I will prepare for the worst but hope for the best, I never know with this calamity club tbh. Just want JP and Sarr to stay so we can go through the whole ordeal again in the Jan window.
If there are genuinely no more significant outgoings, then I personally think it's the wrong and dodgy/dangerous way to play things, but we will at least be able to say we have a chance of doing 2020/21: Electric Boogaloo by sheer weight of attacking talent at this level. If we crumble and lose any of the starbois without significant incomings/replacements (which would presumably be increasingly difficult as the second hand ticks by) then we'll have thrown that chance into considerable jeopardy. Either way, it's almost guaranteed to be a stupid and profligate, seat-of-our-pants decision-making round once again this window, given how close we look like we could be to being really powerful in this league.
One other prediction. When we sign nobody, the Twitter goon enforcers will be out saying how entitled the younger Watford fans are even though half the people who can see Pozzo is incompetent and arrogant have been going since the early 80s.
I did look him up a possible cheap(ish) punt while ago, wondering if he played much with Davis as his scoring record improved significantly at Forest, but it was either him or Davis, alongside Brennan Johnson usually, if not on their own (they are both big lads!). His goals per minute ratio is good at this level, but considering we've just signed Davis and Bayo I don't think he'd get the games he needs here
Don’t disagree although I think he played in lieu of Davis largely due to Davis’ injury absence. Think they could play together but I don’t think they ever built up much on pitch understanding or anything like that.
We will sell Sarr to Palace but get the paperwork to the FA 1 minute after the deadline so that he can't play for them until January. The deal will give us a 20% sell on clause. As he won't be match fit we will then buy him back in January for what we sold him for.
It's becoming clear to me that the Kamara accounting trick was just to keep the club going rather than to fund any new incomings, we haven't even been linked with a loan even though we have a spot free, and even though we have a few areas where we could really do with investment. I think, despite some surprisingly lucrative deals, we weren't expecting to get to this stage with 2 of our star forwards from last season, which financially isn't ideal, but I think we're gonna keep them both now, and they're both great assets on the pitch. Electric Boogaloo might work, as JP is genuinely one of the best players in the division now rather than a green teenager new to the country, although on the flip side, the defence is 2 years older, the midfield even when everyone is fit is probably not as good as last time and we don't have a proper RWB, not to mention I think there are more threats (Swansea were one of our biggest rivals for promotion 2 years ago, and they were gash!)
I’m hearing there could still be some comings and/or goings this window. However if there are, they will DEFINITELY be concluded today, ….even though it’s a Thursday. #onetowatch.
My source advised that would be a deal concluded “after this window slams shut” and therefore his/her/its’ statement to me is 100% correct.
We’re being linked with Callum Lang by Football Insider. https://www.footballinsider247.com/...rd-and-bristol-city-race-to-sign-callum-lang/
I suspect any forward we are linked with today will be enquiries we have made as a contingency for JP or Sarr leaving. Let's hope they are not needed.
He with a name that would work nicely as a chant with ‘Shang-a-Lang’ by the Bay City Rollers. No reason the kids can’t do this if they can do ‘Hey Jude’ and ‘Sloop John B’.
I bought "Shang-a-lang" as a 10 year old. At that age I didn't understand boys shouldn't buy boy band records. I just liked the song. I didn't recognise the dangerous hidden illicit sex, violence and heroin references througout the song. I propped it against a radiator one day and it warped so they always sang very slowly once every revolution .......so I may know the words and tune but struggle to sing along if this song is used.
