Too many subject threads?

I have just had a pm suggesting I should place England threads in another section, fair enough I'm not complaining about that, but it has prompted me to post this thread.

I think we could do with streamlining the amount of subject titles, and also make the subject titles clearer. In other words say what they are for in the title, or at the very least make the "sub titles clearer".

As an example, we did have a thread title, or sub title, I can't remember which, that said where to put "international threads", but that seems to have disappeared? I actually did look for it the other day when I posted my England threads.

IMHO "Luthers Steam Room" "xxxxxxxx" and "xxxxxxxxxx" could be merged, there is no need for elite sections, remember "Animal Farm" ;) Also "The Fizzy Pop" could be incorporated into "Football focus".

Having said all this, I think the forum is well run, but even good things can be improved ;)

You're probably right in the fact the the forum needs a bit of a tidy.

Premiership & internationals joined Football focus as there were not enough posts in them to justify individual sections. I'd probably keep a separate section for the league that we are currently in, this is likely to become more important towards the end of the season when we're discussing who is likely to be promoted along with us.

Isn't 'all football other than watford and the championship' clear then???

Why not make the title "All Other Football" and if a sub title is needed "Other than Fizzypop & Watford"

I know its a bit picky, but these days lots of people tend to skim read, so only clear and concise titles get noticed. "Football Focus" is a good title, but it does not say what it does on the tin, so to speak!!! Therefore it is less likely to be noticed and people will often post in the wrong thread as a result.

TVOR - I've removed the names of the higher post forums from your thread, as not everyone who can read this forum knows about them or is able to post in them.

They serve a very important purpose for the forum and won't be removed.

Obviously I am one of those people that can read them, and that is my point, why should I be able to access parts of the board that others cannot, hence my reference to "Animal Farm".

This does not mean that I do not want to access them, but I only think it is fair that others can as well!!!

There are several good reasons that they work. For a basic start they reward people who post more with access to more privileged forums. Secondly, it enables us as moderators to ensure some things not suitable for public view can be hidden away. For example, some jokes that might offend a casual guest can be put there or maybe a controversial conversation topic. Also, having forums where only experienced and regular users have access enable us to put proposals about the future of the boards to a select group. In the past we've also used the most privileged forum to ask for people to test things which have gone on to become mainstream. Which brings me back to perks for using the site more...

Not to forget the special "lets discuss the voice of reason" room, who everyone bar one has access to.
