**** sake. He was my favourite artist whilst I was at school. My favourite since then also died in May. It's been a **** couple of years in terms of musical talent leaving us

His daughter is pretty adamant he's still alive. Lets hope this is true.

Runnin' down a dream, the best driving song...in the world. I'm gonna dig out my Heartbreakers cassette and play it full tilt.

Such a shame. After his daughter's early response to the news, really thought he'd make it. RIP Tom Petty.

A musical hero of mine too. Just saying.

  16. He certainly had some friends to help him out with his vids!

Is that a very young Matt le Blanc being tattooed by Johnny Depp at the end?

  17. Just watching these make me so sad. Said it was his last tour - wanted to spend more time with his granddaughter.
Oh my my, oh hell no.

And mine; was also at Hyde Park, almost 40 years since I first saw him; seriously upset over the past 48 hours.
Recommend the wonderful eulogy by Neil McCormick in the DT, which sums the great man up perfectly.

Meant to add that last night's tribute showing of his 1980 Oxford gig reminded me that Breakdown has the most sublimely mellow groove of any record ever (sorry if that's a bit Jazz Club) and that Mike Campbell is one of the most accomplished and underrated guitarists around..
