That would guarantee promotion but the worst case scenario would be going into Brentford and Swansea only a few points behind.

I think we'll lose to Norwich and Brentford, beat Millwall and draw with Swansea. Giving us 86 points. Whether that's enough or not...

Watchimg that match on Hive Live wasn't fun. The angle of the camera was much too low, the kits clashed too much and the highlights peeps went major OTT. The Kennel is a **** tip. We deserved to lose though.

The issue is Brentford’s game in hand - gives them a lifeline .

**** off. Are you Deeney's ex-wife? It's almost embarrassing now.

Just an FYI- those who’s first reaction to that performance is to blame Deeney are coming across as genuinely unhinged, like actually deranged

With how other results went even a draw today would have been decent. I don't really see us getting more than 3 points and in that scenario we're relying on 2 teams to continue dropping points in winnable games.

Today showed that pressure does funny things to teams. We all should have won comfortably today. Brentford had one shot on target against a side who lost 3-0 to Swansea last week. Swansea were 2-0 down against the worst side in the league and had Wycombe not missed an open goal from 3 yards, they would have lost.

What today showed is that it is completely and utterly pointless to make predictions on ant particular round of games

Loss hugely disappointing today but we still have points in the bag , Brentford/Swansea dropped points at home to struggling sides with now one game less to play

Watford and Brentford's goal difference are both 31 so if they win their game in hand they will have a better goal difference!

Their goal difference is identical to ours.

Basically if none of us get an early goal we all seem to struggle.

You know what will happen - we'll all bottle it and Bournemouth win the play-offs!

Never hear the end of it.

It’s laughable how in our hands this situation is, but that’s the most worrying thing for me as Watford have been absolute bottle jobs my whole supporting life.
There are so many occasions that have fuct up royally and unless we buck the trend it looks to be heading that way again.
6 points sounds a lot but it can easily be turned upside down if Brentford win their game in hand and win 2 games in which we lose. It’s w very achievable situation for them if we carry on our post international break form.
    Squeaky bum time...

For once, I actually hope Norwich win. Then Muff will have to beat Brentford - a result (if it happens) that could massively boost us. But we still need to get points on the board, especially after today's debacle.

Even when we won the League One title that was as underdogs having sort of lost ground on Bristol City in the run in.

If we drop into the playoffs and lose to Muff I’d seriously consider giving up on football forever

So Swansea need at least 2 wins and a draw in their last 4 to overhaul us

Brentford need at least 2 wins and 2 draws in their last five

and that's assuming we pick up no further points this season

Automatic spot is still ours to lose

It's based on my opinion if they gain enough points to be equal with us they may have a better goal difference

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that Brentford will have a much better goal difference than is if it ends up coming down to it.

So do we want Norwich to beat Muff? (apart from Muff being scummers and all that)

Yes. Two fold - They would more or less win the title and have less energy to stuff us on Tuesday, and Muff would def have to beat Brentford which would help us.

Am I right in thinking that, if we match Brentford’s points haul in the next 2 games, they would then be in a position where nothing less than 3 wins from 3 is enough for them to overtake us? (Assuming we got 0 points from the final 2 games)

  27. SkylaRose

It hugely depends on the result of their game in hand. If they lose that, we will be at least one point further from them before we go to their place. If they win that, they cut our lead (as it stands) to five points. Meaning beating us could in theroy cut our lead to just two. However, we would have to lose to both Norwich and Millwall.

  28. UEA_Hornet

Yes, looks like it. There would be an 8pt gap and clearly that’s not a points haul they can get from 3 games short of winning them all.

That's a really positive look on things Skyla. Burden in our hands? Maybe, but more so the other two. It's hardly a burden anyway, I just love the song Burden in my hand by Soundgarden. Football can be a tiny burden, but at the end of the day, football ain't serious enough to worry about.

As someone who is languishing towards the bottom of the Prediction game, I wholeheartedly agree. Especially since I used to have a look at the form table and make what I thought were reasonably informed choices. Now I just pick promotion rivals in the hope I bring them bad luck. This week I chose Swansea - hurrah, job done! I will pick Norwich next if I can.

Yes if we can hammer the scum the way we did today we must have a great chance of pinching a win at Naarch. As you say, we are pretty much unbeatable in this poor league.

If Brentford keep not winning and we lose the next 3, all we need do is beat Swansea final day. Presuming they don't win each game 6-0.

The failure of Swansea and Brentford overall is much better for us than our own results.

Cool, I thought that was the case, just wanted to double check the maths!

Hopefully matching their points haul in the next 2 is doable, we have Norwich but they have two tricky games. Would set things up nicely and mean that if they fail to win their game in hand, we’d be home and dry before we play them
