'Thanks' System

On other V Bulliten(sp) boards I've noticed there being a very nifty 'Thanks' system in place.

This adds a wee little button next to where the 'Quote' button is with a thumbs up on it on every post.

It's quiet handy to click if ya agree with a post, or find it funny etc.

If you click this button on another post then your name appears in small letters just beneath the post.

Dead handy for assesing who's agreeing with who in an arguement or where displaying gratitude for a witty, intelligent post or one where ya have the same opinion.

I think it'd be a great addition to the forum!?

Surely you can asses who's agreeing with you by what they post ?

That's only IF they post. Some people might agree with/like the post but not want to actually add anything else to the thread.

I've seen it and used it myself on other forums. Every little thing we add here will increase the processing time for each page by a very small amount, but they all add up. I'm always aware that if we add something like the thanks button then it needs to be something that really needs to be added to improve the place. I'm not convinced on this one.

knowing a fair bit about computers myself its just not worth it

 

I like the idea as it gives people an idea who gives the best advice, info and who well respected. It certainly wold help any new members as if one person gave advice and then another, and one of these people had received alot of thanks then your more likely going to beleive them than the other.

I like the idea, maily becuase I think many people are put off from praising my many glorious posts as they are intimidated by the quality and accuracy of them, not wanting to feel a fool by responding.

I think it's at least worth a trial version for a week or so, then a vote at the end as to whether we want to keep it or not!

The forums I'm apart of that use it have no problems and I can't see any differnce in page loading speed!

 

Perhaps a thumbs up button to vote 'yes'

 

Can we also have a button which says "I ***kyn disagree with your ***kyn point of view?"
