According to one of the Sunday Papers, a motion has been laid down in Parliament, signed by over 100 MP's, advocating the return of some terracing to Premiership and Championship grounds. :D :D :D

The terraces would no doubt become the focal point for those of us that want to vocally support our team, and it would help to bring back a lot of the atmosphere that has deserted most grounds since the introduction of all seater stadiums. I am all for the re-introduction, and I will be the first in the queue to buy a season ticket in that area, where ever it might sited at The Vic. :D :D :D

Hmm, I like where I sit in the Rookery, so I wouldn't move, but it would be a good laugh for the away games.

i agree the terracing can be for the supporters who really want to get behid their team and show their support. the away games that i have been too and we have stood up are the best!!

Unlikely to get passed through and even if it did i can't see it happening at Watford especially with the plans for the ground.

Could Go Up By Around 5000. Nimrods Need Not Apply For Tickets.

we could stop the building of the new stand and just open up the bit of old terracing that it still there then!

it will never come back at vicarage road as it would cost too much to convert a stand back to terracing again. the only real possible place would be the lower rous, and even though i am 6ft 3, i would struggle to see over the wall at the vicarage road end.

having been to the odd Barnet game in the last few seasons and st albans games, terrecing is so much better for atmosphere and for us big people as well:)

The chances of it being passed are very slim given the reasons it was removed in the first place, namely hillsborough and other such (though not as horrendous) incidents.
The government are very big on "public health and safety" so in no way would they advocate the removal of seating in place of stands at football stadia due to the dangers involved with fans surging forward when a goal is scored.
I would love to see it, I still remember the old days at the vic when it was stands, used to stand under the old scoreboard, my earliest recollection of football at Watford, but i really cant see it happening.

i remember as a kid being allowed to go in the vicarage road terrace for the first time and seeing laurie madden score an own goal to give us a 2-1 win against sheffied wednesday and then beind facinated by the little scorebaord men. ahh the memories;D

i can see why they won't bring it back, but rugby seem to have standing and are able to drink and i think it is shalke in germany have those convertable stands which the seats fold away for league games?

My very first game if i remember rightly was against wallsall... watching Ross Jenkins header from a corner and their goal keeper nearly getting to it but head butting the post on his way down.. i laughed so hard.. didnt know he was quite badly injured!!! we won that one 2-0.
The vicarage road end was the home end then and was so much fun.
    The good old days.

We could just open up the little bit of terracing in between the vic road away and the family stand, that will be top class and a right laugh cannot see it happening but if it does i will be in there ready for a right old laugh

wont happen, im not sure it wouls increase the atmousphere darastically anyway, we have the option to stand already, ie. palace semi final, but dont use it.
if it did happen, it would not increase the capacity, they would make sure there is plaenty of space for everyone to fit in

Loved the terracing when I was younger, part of tradition. Cracking matches at the vic including beating Forest, Man Utd etc. etc. However things move on. I can't see it coming back.

Things a lot more safer now, however a good debate.

there is no chance of terracing returning to clubs at the top 2 levels.

little commercial sense in it for most clubs even if the present or future governments did a total policy u-turn.

sorry lads and lassies but it's for the best.

Does it actually need to be terracing?

Why can't they have a 'standing only zone', where people just stand in front of their seats, this stops over crowding/crushing and lets the fans that wish to stand and sing do so!?

Would be great to open that bit in the new stand when it's built right next to the away fans!

  28. wfchornet2

    wfchornet2 The Prodigal mod

    Sounds good... BUT...
When the people in front of you are standing you have no choice but to stand if you wish to see what you have paid to see, so wouldnt work in practice

  29. Bubble

    Bubble Wise Oracle

I see no reason why it shouldn't work though! If it's deemed an all standing zone and people want to sit down in it and moan when others are standing then they shouldn't be in there in the first place!

That's not a bad idea mate. Be like the scum last year: all standing but the 'seats' (if you can call 'em that!) keep people reasonably apart and stop crushing. Would need a change in the law though.
