Tapping up is approaching a player who is under contract at another club and telling him what kind of deal would be on offer if he joined another club. Tapping up is illegal. Aidy says King isn't for sale. Derby leak rumours to the press that they are willing to offer x million and pay King £35,000 per week. What do you call that?
I'd call it using the media to ones advantage. As far as I understand it the suitor has to approach the player directly and make the offer to him without the permission of his club to do so. 'Making it known' through the press probably isn't fairplay but it's not tapping up in the traditional sense.
Don't you think there's a huge difference between letting it be known you are interested in a player and publicly offering to double his wages? This is going to be a test of King.
King has already said all of three days ago that he has zero desire to leave. Yet the press are reporting that "King's response to this latest approach is as yet unknown" The media get on my wick to be honest...it's all hot air. Aidy was unequivocal too.
King isn't going anywhere. a) He doesn't want to go anywhere b) He wants to fire us back up to the Prem c) Aidy won't let him go d) We don't need the money, as the £60m price tag lark has shown.
Why the f**k would MK want to sign for a team that are going to get ****ed week in and week out? They'll (Derby) be relegated by March!!
