Absolutely. If more than one person in the same house posts on the forum, their IP address is going to show as the same, so family members, housemates etc, not necessarily sharing the same point of view.

Not just housemates in some instances, people in the same offices, on the same roads, same exchanges, people using the same proxies etc etc.

The latest that I have heard is...:

• The reason it all went quiet was because of the team's purple patch. Naturally, the current owners were looking to capitalise on the team playing well and getting great results and were looking for a bit more from the prospective buyers.
  
  
• Consortium consisting of Mr Bassani is unlikely to have him at the helm (in fact his name may not even be mentioned due to it affecting his wife's business possibly)
  
  
• Chances are the name to be associated with the buy-in/buy-out is Panos Thomas. He is a lower leg surgeon who does a lot of work in the football industry (knee probs mostly I guess)
  
  
• Money is promised to deal with East stand. It will have a full clinic within it to deal with (mainly) lower leg surgery for most London teams (as Mr Thomas currently does)
  
  
• Timescale unknown, Ashcroft is not dealing personally but his financial adviser is not known for sticking to meetings times and seems to falter at the last, tho this may have been just whilst they were seeing how well the team would do in their purple patch.
  
  
• No idea if pitch is to be repaired. Bloody wants to be.

 

Lucca Bassani has strong links with Portofino, so the notification on the Stock Exchange mentioning Portofino Investments Ltd could be the company in the takeover bid.

 

Interesting: One of my mates was on the train to Forest on Saturday and he said a chap in first class was walking around introducing himself to fans as Lawrence, could have been Bassani, anyway someone who is apparently friendly with Julian Winter, made a call and the next thing is this chaps phone went off and he then went very quiet!

Probably not at all related but it was only when I saw the name Lawrence that I took it a little bit more seriously. Could these chaps be one and the same Futix?

IF one of the consortium is a lower leg surgeon i expect the pitch will be relaid to prevent injuries.

Hi guys I am a new boy on the block but found that Mr Panos Thomas registered a new company, Watford FC Ltd with companies house on 12/1/2011. It is a £100 off the shelf company and he is the only named director. Registered address somewhere in High Wycombe. Strange name for a knee surgery company eh!

Just a word of warning to everyone . All this speculation has ramifications in respect of the PLC takeover code and as such could jeopardize any deal which may or may not exist . My advice would be to stop speculating unless you want to damage any possibility of a takeover . Otherwise we will be in the same position next year . No new owners , looking to sell and broke .

 

Message board speculation will not jeopardise any takeover, especially where people are drawing on information in the public domain. Others who may have inside info post it at their own risk. If a takeover collapses because of message board speculation its a pretty naff attempt at a takeover.

 

I should add if u have any information keep it to yourself . There are lots of takeover rules you may inadvertently fall foul of .if any takeover is to succeed then we must all respect the rules

 

It's that sort of flippant attitude that could put a takeover at risk . The mere fact that there is speculation could put prospective owners off and they could walk away

 

Really? Why? If someone is hardnosed enough to have enough money to buy a football club, I doubt internet speculation as to their identity will make a blind bit of difference.

 

Oh come off it! Should we stop discussing transfer speculation as that might put those deals at risk? And what about rumours about players being unsettled? I guess it might also be prudent to stop posting the regular thread where some people try and guess the team line-up for the weekend...we wouldn't want to give the opposition the inside track would we?

If prospective owners are put off because of speculation on an internet forum may I be the first to suggest they're probably not cut out for owning a football club because this is just the start of it.

 

Saint. If this guy Thomas wants to be so secret squirrel about his potential involvement then why would he register a company of Watford FC Ltd? Surely Luthers Lingerie Ltd or Italian Salads Ltd would be more discreet. I carried out a simple search on the guy and found the info. I get your sentiment but a knee surgeon with a £100 company does not inspire me that we have found the answer to our financial issues.

It seems that the Panos Thomas and Lawrence Bassani rumours were correct! Though I can't see anyone selling their shares for 1p each, at least it confirms that the negotiations are still ongoing.

He is probably just the front of the investors, the one willing to be in the public eye. There could be money from others, or you could be right and this guy just has a few grand in the bank and will borrow the rest!

 

The surname is also different: BassIni and BassAni.
