too many strikers now we should have what 4 strikers 5 tops but even thats pushing it we currently have: king hendo priskin hoskins kabba moses theo robinson now presuming kabba goes which i hope he will but cant be sure that he will how do you see it panning out for the rest of them?
Hoskins - Unproven. Priskin - Still alot to learn. Moses - Injured and raw. Kabba - Sh*te Theo - Still raw, could go out on loan again. Hendo - Good last time round, not garaunteed more success. Marlon gets injured we will struggle again. We still need to buy a quality striker to bolster our options. Say around £4M on Earnshaw would do nicely.
I think King is the only proven quality striker. Hendo im afraid it could be time to say bye bye, one lucky season? priskin can sometimes look the **** so i say keep him. Kabba is allready gone as far as im concerned ive conned myself its the truth and hapy in my ignorance.keep others maybe rethink moses and hoskins in january. BUY ONE MORE GENUINE PROVEN QUALITY STRIKER!
Agree with that, we need to sign a *quality* striker (and not as a replacement for King!). What we don't need is someone like Gallen -another 'squad' player. In an ideal world we'd get a good target man (e.g can hold up the ball but also has good ball control) to challange Hendo as the others seem to be more in the 'King' role.
I personally think we have enough strikers right now, don't forget Bouazza can also be a good man up front. However, things can change during the summer and early season: - Theo should be loaned out. - Hoskins should definitely be loaned out - he really needs to boost his confidence by bagging some goals at his own level. - Kabba might leave (and will not be missed). - Someone might get injured. ...and as previously mentioned, Moses is injured and wouldn't be a serious choice for a place in the first XI anyway. So, with a few loans, injuries and Kabba out the door we need _one good striker_. No more useless squad players, that's what the academy is for. No Kevin Gallen - bring on Earnshaw or Radzinski or Heidar or Harewood.
How can you say Hendo had a lucky season? :dismay: Some people need reminding of what 2005/06 was all about...
king.............Proven quality hendo...........Average (and thats as good as he ever will be) priskin............Average with the potential to improve hoskins...........Young with potential, would benefit from a loan spell kabba............POOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! moses............Injured, also would benefit from a loan theo robinson...as per Hoskins, young with potential, would benefit from a loan spell So we actually have 1 proven quality striker 2 average strikers and 2 with potential. Bring in HH and Chopra, proven goal scorers at this level, Add Marlon King and now that is a strike force!
Henderson isnt liked by Watford fans :]] I personally think he will do a good job, espically with King and with good width of Smith / McAnuff / Bouazza who will all destroy the champ. Last season with Henderson I cant really remember him getting decent service to his head, like balls whipped into the box where he could power in his headers. Last season he didnt get a early goal to get him off and running, confidence got low, he missed a couple of sitters.
Hendo's problem has been a distinct lack of people who can cross the ball. A tall strong header use fairly useless if no crosses come in. Neither Smith nor Bouazza are natural wingers - they like to cut inside rather than going to the byeline and cross. If we sign MacAnuff - hopefully we can get someone who is willing to go deep and put crosses in the box.
I agree with that, I think the service was poor (2005/06 our best crossers were Macca and Devlin). But I don't think Henderson has the technical ability to be a regular Premiership striker, though we should defo keep him for next season
Danger is the board might have to spend some money on transfer fees though rather than suing former finance directors and local newspapers. :doom:
Why?...its all club money (maybe not a lot?) that is going towards the case meaning we won't have much to spend in the transfer market I guess.
You don't actually think they're dipping into the transfer fund to pay for their court cases do you ?? :sign1:
But a legal case isn't going to take up all the club's money! Most media exposed businesses have money put aside for such a contingency I'm sure. Plus, if the club win - and I honestly don't think they'd have started this action unless they'd been advised they had a very good case - they will get all their costs paid by the WO and damages. You also have to look at the bigger picture. If WFC don't defend themselves against such comments how will that look to future investors? Why invest if what Simmons says is true? So it'd potentially harm the club long-term to not go to court.
the board are probably intentionally suing people to excuse the massive amounts of money they are diverting away from the transfer fund and so no one will ask questions when it mysteriously dissapears. then they'll asset strip the club for a quick buck, drop to league 1 to make more money and we'll never be good again. heed my words
I would like to think not but.......don't expect mutli million pounds signings. Few feebies and a couple between 500-1 million or however much McAuff costs if he does come.
Hello Phil, would love us to re-sign Heidar or Chopra! Chopra has proven this season he's a quality championship striker...we all know about HH! HH and King upfront would be superb! One of: Earnshaw Harewood Chopra Helguson would be a quality signing...hopefully we'll get one of them! Out of that list i'd rather sign Earnshaw...perhaps Chopra is a bit too similiar to Hoskins! Kabba...can fook off Henderson...back-up striker Hoskins...5 month loan then back-up for second part of season Ashikodi...season loan with option to re-call Robinson...season loan with option to re-call King...must obviously keep, different class Priskin...alongside King at the moment, will score lots this coming season New striker...depends on the quality as to whether he'll play alonside MK 4 strikers in the first team squad is the way forward...also Bouazza and Noddy can play there if needed...plenty of versatility!
IMO, Priskin should bugger off along with Kabba, we need to get somebody that actually has ANY crossing ability and another quality striker. Have 4 'potential' strikers seems daft in my book.
Not so sure. He certainly bangs them in at international level. I think Priskin will take time to find his feet in the UK, but when he does it could be a real goalfest.
Maybe he will, but all his international goals have come against less-than-prestigious teams. Perhaps the Peter Crouch of Hungary. I am just unsure at the amount of strikers we have that 'could' become good. I know it is unfair to judge him on the basis of last season, but even if he was a new signing now, I would raise my eyebrows at the addition of another 'potential' goalscorer. Still, perhaps all of the young ones will turn into Shearers and then i'll happily eat my words, my hat, my house and anything else that I may have to :]]
We need two poss three - one with real pace and one with real guile. I would like to see Hendo and Kabba go. Earnshaw, or Chopra in, H back and Gallen impress on his trial - but there are other options.
I dont get why everyone despises Hendo?! Call me biased, i really dont care, but he had one bad season in the prem where his striking buddy King was out for most of it. It seems you have all forgotten the magic he brought us season before last.. Short memories. Lets go sell him then, say goodbye to a King/Hendo partnership which will bring us in the goals again. mmk.
Given good service Priskin will put the ball in the back of the net. The problem with him is that he can't really create anything for himself like Marlon can. This means that like last season, when he never really got service he looked pretty useless. Sounds kind of like Inzaghi come to think of it.
Well if he can get 58 Champions League goals for Watford I don't care that he can't create a goal for himself.
Sentiment doesn't come into it. I've not got alot against him and I think he could come good again in the championship - but is he as good as H? No he's not. Not unhappy if he stays but if we cann do better...
Quality over Depth. Agree with the signings oh HH, Chopra, Earnshaw etc. Someone who is proven at this level.
Henderson will be a nusiance and get goals. Perfect foil for King. Maybe needs a better winger to get decent crosses cant really remember him getting any chances with his head last season. Priskin is very hit and miss but hes young so I guess thats what happens. Bit given the right service I think he is very deadly infront of goal. Even from watching him in warm up before games he looks the best finisher. But I wonder how he will adapt to even more physical conditions of the champ? Hoskins I think should be loaned out, or maybe in pre season as i keep saying about the new most players, he will bond with the players, get watford fit, bang a few goals and get confidence. Moses seems like a goalscorer and very firey character. Robinson very highly rated by the acadmey as a goalscorer, getting in the right positions etc which cant be trained. it's a tough one to call if we need another striker
Sadly I think of those 3 we only stand a chance of getting H if he is not wanted at Fulham. The others 2 won't be sold by their clubs and probably wouldn't leave for us.
natural insticts cant be trained. some players just have a nack for getting in the right places etc eg Defoe, Fowler who always seem to be in the best place for tap ins etc. I think thats what the acadmey people are probably on about.
