No, you've got it all wrong. It's supposed to be taken very seriously and you're forbidden to enjoy it.
I am no football intellectual, nor am I a supporter of either side, but the England/Italy game was very interesting to me. It wasn't the kind of game that would convert a non-fan of the sport to liking it. It felt like a heist film though. The Italians were working the safe all game long trying to break in while keeping the bobbies at bay. Plan A didn't pan out, but when the chips were down, they broke the bank in the nick of time. Come to think of it, my write up made it out to be far more entertaining than it actually was.
