Something isn't adding up...

How much did we get for promotion/TV rights last season..I seem to remember the figure of £50 million being bounced about - If so, where has the money gone?

Some money has obviously been put aside for the ground redevelopment (although GS has taken a loan out for that - another thing I don't understand), as well as paying back outstanding debts - but we haven't really spent much in the transfer market:

Danny Shittu - 1.6 Million (rising to 3)
    Damien Francis - 1.5 Million
Tamas Priskin - 1 Million (if rumours are true)
    Will Hoskins/Lee Williamson - 1.2 Million

altogether that is 5.3 Million, IMO not enough to keep us in this league. Our lack of spending at the start of the season was not only quite a suprise, but also quite stupid - It is obvious that although they try week in and week out, the current crop are not a Premiership side. With a few additions in the Summer we'd be staring at a whole different picture.

Another thing that concerns me is the way that with no prior sign, club staff are sacked/allowed to leave. Nigel Gibbs still rankles as the man was and is a legend, but am I the only one who see's something fishy in the rumours of Hockaday and Cummings (sp) being allowed to leave? Why would that happen in the middle of the season, effectively leaving Aidy and **** Bate to run the team?

Maybe I'm being cynical but a few things just don't add up to me - feel free to correct me or draw my attention to anything I've missed out/over looked.

30 million I think but you do not get in all up front so to speak?

Does seem strange to get rid of 2 coaches because the players were not happy about the style they had us playing.

Would have though Aidy was the main guy to decide formations, tactics etc.

Remember Boothroyd is still very inexperienced at this level.

Ofcourse we should have got more signings in the summer and AB has said that in the past.

Promotion was worth £32m, a figure confirmed by Mark Ashton in May on the BBC. Out of this £12m was based on instant relegation (ie parachute payments) and the rest is TV money paid in installements, so is not money necessarily there to spend straight away.

Aidy has already admitted he made mistakes in August with failing to sign people. Of course some wouldn't come because of our uncertain status but the truth is we didn't move quick enough and when we did we tried to cut corners on cost. He's started to redress that in January with some quick signings, with the promise of three more to follow. I think however we can safely rule out a Mr. C John of the West London area of the world...

I see no fuss with sacking coaches. Gibbs was sacked because he had too strong a link to the Taylor era and the past. It was the right decision, a fact proven by events since. He's hardly gone on to greatness and we've been promoted at the first attempt. Some people also forget Aidy's first acheivement - avoiding pretty certain relegation. I think you're naive if you think WFC are gonna go out in advance and say "unless we win this weekend, so and so is sacked". That's not how things work I'm afraid.

I didn't mean that, I just thought it came absolutely out of the blue. Much like the Nigel Gibbs dismissal.

Hopefully with a few more signings and some luck in the league people won't be echoing this post in the summer :)

We're willing to spend the not-insignificant fee £3.25mil for John if he decides to come to us (he won't though).

We have done that for a whille though...problem was we did get stuck in and look to get the ball wide into the box and create chances.
