aidy referred in the programme to a panic buy he made in january. my money's on kabba. i no its fairly obvious but im surprised he has said it.
He's referring to Kabba, but I'd add Hoskins to that. Don't know exactly how much of the Rotherham transfer fee was for Hoskins, but I assume it was around £750k and he's completely and utterly useless.
wooooooooah. Hardly set the world alight but to say he's completley and utterly useless is a bit o.t.t. He's 21. Still young and finding his feet at the club. Look at the bigger picture. Maybe after 15 or so games in the championsip after he's had a pre season, friendlies(got some goals in them hoopefully) then we can judge him? Give him a bit more time thats what I say to all the signings. I think most Watford fans just dont give players a chance. Saying that I remember people slagging of Williamson after one game at Bolton. Yet he's played well in the last few games and everyone is praising him.
The thing with Hoskins is that he seems so completely out of depth - he looks like a 17-year-old thrown on the pitch for a Champions League match, not like a 21-year-old thrown in for Watford. I'm sorry, I just don't see any potential in him and that should be evident at his age (21 is not _that_ young). If I'm not mistaken, Rotherham almost released him on a free only 12 months ago when his contract was up. I totally understand why and I have a bad feeling that his form during the autumn was just a lucky streak. Don't get me wrong, I really hope he developes and proves me wrong! Just as I hope Kabba will get his head straight and become a goal-machine, or that James Chambers grows into a right-sided English version of Roberto Carlos. Don't see it happening, though.
I have more hope for Hoskins than Kabba as he is younger and was playing 2 leagues above with little experience.
Kabba has looked plain useless, and doesn't appear to try. Whereas Hoskins on the other hand at least looks like he is trying, and next season he may just come good.
Its not great when a player calls you lazy after about a month at the club like Foster did on Sky if I remember!
Hoskins will be OK next season if given a chance. He is prepared to work, but needs nurturing to make the step up from playing at a much lower standard of football. Kabba is just a fekkyn disgrace and I will pay his taxi fare myself if neccessary. Hoskins has struggled, but not for want of trying, whereas kabba just doesn't want to play, which is unforgivable.
It is clearly Kabba, we needed goals badly, we were running out of window time, and he was cheap... shame we couldn't have spent HALF A MILLION POUNDS on something beneficial.
I've not seen the programme notes but I'm amazed he's actually admitted to a "panic buy". It's obviously referring to Kabba as he is so out of the picture it's untrue. To sub a sub is the ultimate snub to a player. The timing of Kabba, coming in at the last minute is another indicator. I think Aidy got the guy in without doing his homework on the player, which really surprised me as we parted with good money for him. I hope he's learnt his lesson on this as it's a mistake he should never have made and he knows it by the sounds of it.
Hoskins might look a bit out of his depth but Theo Wallcott is much of the same mould. He is only getting a sniff at Arsenal. They are not rushing his progress and he managed to get to the World Cup !!.
I dont think aidy boothroyd bought any experienced players for the premiership, if you come straight back up you ave to look for some older players who are good leaders and have experienced with other clubs such as players like nicky butt speed players like that. Sunderland are looking at players like this.
Very true. Kabba seemed an odd signing to me and he never proved himself but I'm sure we'll be able to get some of our money back, maybe Sheffield United will sign him again?!
I suppose to an extent all his signings were panic buys of sorts. But Hoskins and Williamson were proven goalscorers (albeit in lower divisions) and were the shining stars of the Millers' team, which makes all the difference. Also, they are both young, and obviously have great potential. Kabba however was proven nowhere in particular, has seemingly been average wherever he has been, was nowhere near match fit, lazy, arsey and pathetic. THAT is a panic buy.
As far as i'm concerned Kabba is a s**t/lazy t**t that couldn't care less about Watford... BUT, maybe it is worth seeing how he starts in the Championship before flogging him for peanuts.
