i was hoping a quiet one - bringing the littlelad who last season complained that it was too noisy (then again we were winning at the time)

I like the McAnuff one Iays (check your spelling) but I'm not so sure about the others - especially the Rous one - the last 2 times I have been to home matches the noise (admittedly from individuals, not groups of fans) was passionate, loud and inspired and in one case extremely funny. I'm in the Rous tomorrow so I'll be keeping eyes and ears out - may even pay a visit to seat u67 to, err, have a chat!

Btw you coud almost turn each of the smileys you showed as Keys to watford message boards :p

He's not there to line his own pockets, he's there to line his master's. And it was his master who propped up the last regime really.

Just love the bloke ... badly treated over the England job IMO.

He has his own decent network in football that may unearth one or two gems.

He will be Independent though and doesnt have to have a good long look at himself in The Mirror like previous board members. Can only see The Sun shining on the vic after GT's return as these are certaintly hard Financial Times.

Wonderful to have the man back - a true star!

There is a `feel good` factor in just having him around:]]

Interesting that the website is heavily promoting the Wobby - they are obviously doing all possible to build bridges with the local paper.

He's going to great lengths to distance himself from the daydreamers who think he's somehow suggesting formations/signings/coaching ideas to Rodgers. A necessary move methinks.

I noticed that as well... it's essentially an advert for the local paper!

But a futile one I reckon. When we win 3-0, there will be buffoons in the Rookery going "Taylor's had a word in Brendan's ear," but when we lose to Wolves it will be "Taylor's giving Brendan too much leeway," etc.

Nah ... win 3-0 and its "Brendan'd been reading WFCForums again !"

Lose 3-0 ... but he read too many threads by UEA and Bubble.

    Tony Daley on Graham Taylor

In case you missed the Backplay page in last weekend's Sunday Times here are a few questions that Tony Daley answered where he praises SGT

"Who was the best manager you played under?

Graham Taylor, at Villa, Wolves and Watford and for England. He knew how to get the best out of me, when to give me a kick up the backside and when I needed an arm round my shoulder. He had a knack. If I had played badly or had a personal problem, I would go and see him. I had a lot of respect for him. Not many who played under him who would have a bad word about him as a person.

What was your best Graham Taylor moment?

It was his first pre-season at Villa. We went to Sutton Park in Birmingham to do our pre-season training. We had just got out of the cars and he set off. We were thinking, ‘This is just a five-minute jog’. He started at a hell of a pace and a few of the players were chuckling and saying, ‘How can he continue at this pace? It will be two minutes and he will slow down and give up’. Forty-five minutes later and we were still going the same pace and some of the lads were struggling. We were about 100 yards from where we started and could see the drinks. Suddenly, he darts off on a detour and we had to run for another 20 minutes. That was the worst bit. In that hour and a bit we changed from chuckling at him to absolute exhaustion and disbelief ... and of course respect.

What was the best advice you received?

When Graham Taylor first came to Villa I was only a youngster and a lot had been said about my ability. We were having a team meeting and he turned round and, out of the blue, said, ‘As for you, Mr Daley, if you don’t buck your ideas up you will be down the road’. That was what I needed because as a youngster you fancy yourself as a player."
