Harsh. He is probably rather rusty and it takes longer for older players to get back into the swing of things. He barely went into the channels and was hard pressed to exert pressure on their centrebacks unlike Pedro who stuck to the task manfully. If only we could get JP the service in and around the box he will score plenty and win many decisions.
Great start to the season. 3 of our 5 new players already looking good. Manager's style looking like it will work. Several good players waiting in the wings. 4 points already despite the squad still being a long way from full strength. Its a transitional period til the window closes and plenty of reason for optimism. Only 2 teams have won 2 out of 2, thats the champo. Just have to make sure we stop the scum going top next Saturday.
I agree regarding Pete. He's hardly played. I expect Stripey will play on Saturday and Pete Tuesday. JP has soft feet and real tenacity. Wednesday are always a hard, gritty northern team. Never anything different.
So ******* depressed that after years of being so, so far ahead of the scum, we're going to play them next week with a shambles of a team, with players that could put them to the sword sat at home whilst we end up cobbling together an eleven.
Wycombe are having a difficult start.........remember what GT told us "never look at the league table until 10 matches have been played"
Now now SLB. It will make the win all the sweeter when we thump them with this cobbled together team. We will soon deflate their bubble. They have played two teams worse than Boro and Wednesday. Cocu's Derby are a shambles for a start.
The kind of game we'd have lost last season (maybe not against Sheffield Wednesday themselves as they're crap, but a team like them). There may be a lack of quality so far (hopefully more to come from transfers and the injury table), but I can't fault the effort of the lads so far, they do seem a hell of a lot more up for it than last season
Nothing much has changed. Nath is still the prophet of doom leading his disciples to Calvary and Moog now comprises over fifty percent of the forum membership.
Well, he's here now and there's nothing we can do about it, let's worry about this if he's still playing when Garner is up to speed and Hughes is back shall we?
Or we can worry about it each and every time he plays and does nothing, which could easily be a lot this season? Considering the fact that he's been made captain, I don't see him suddenly stepping aside, depressingly.
Given that there are 44 games left in a compressed time frame we will need bodies in midfield. Midfield will be crucial to getting us over the line. To create enough chances and help support the defence. Brilliant if we keep Caps and motivated and also Hughes. If not we still need an experienced head in there like Grimes as Garner is still a young one although the terms with Manchester are that they want to see him play as much as possible.
I just don't understand what you're seeing from Wilmot to justify this opinion. You seem to be falling in to a dwindling minority with regards to taking a kind view of his distribution. For one thing, I don't think it has much to do with Wilmot being more keen to move the ball forward than other CBs, he's often been left as the spare defender and opponents don't seem to have been that bothered to just let him have the ball in space because they know he'll make a pig's ear of it. Another thing, he misplaces even the simple passes he attempts, along with being inaccurate with his long balls. Did you buy him on Football Index or something?!
I hope Hughes is given the arm band when Deeney plays in another relegation campaign this time for WBA. He Cleverly should be good enough for most matches in this division because frankly so far the quality has been appalling.
It has, but so far that horrific quality from other sides has only seen us limp to a 1-0 win and a 0-0 draw. We don't really look any better.
Cleverley at least is here, putting the effort in, and trying to help the club get back to the PL, which is more than can be said for our rancid section of fans who offer nothing but constant negativity and bitching on social media
Trying to play 3-5-2 and passing the ball around too. Mind you least we've kept some clean sheets and looked very comfortable 2nd half.
That’s rubbish. Our best defender today. Made a couple key interceptions/tackles and also caused a threat in the oppositions box. Very decent at this level I would say.
Agreed. More positivity from the fans on social media would definitely improve the teams performance on the pitch.
As someone who’s been critical of Deeney’s performances in recent times, I like many others was crying out for someone with more mobility. There weren’t many saying “get Deeney out at all costs” and in fact most recognised he was a better option than others in the squad. I don’t think seeing a 90-year old Glenn Murray struggling is much of victory over the Deeney nay-sayers.
It's not been great Nath but there has been a large amount of disruption. Vladimir has had to work with those he knows are staying for certain. If we keep some of those who are wanting to run away and get them motivated we should have enough to get out of this cesspit. I am sure the cohesion will get there. JP needs a regular partner like Perica. Certainly there is something off in midfield. We seem very short of a player in there more often than not during a game. Quina through no fault of his own has effectively missed a season and a bit of valuable development time.
Thought that we look like a team at our level. JP looks like he has the potential to be something special but the rest of our players look OK at best at this level, some not even that. We look far from a promotion side in my view. We have enough to be mid table, maybe flirt with the playoffs bit we simply lack quality in all departments.
The way he held off Kachunga was amusing. It was like a seeing a oxpecker trying to clamber over the back of an elephant. He had a very decent game after an initially shaky start. Wilmot needs to learn not to get sucked into confrontations with players who possess better upper body strength than him. Just hold back and time your challenge.
I think Ivic has done really well so far. Not many could be unbeaten in 3 games despite the team being so disjointed/**** (delete as appropriate).
Cleverley did more to get us relegated than I did, so overall I'd say I'm more of a Watford legend than he is.
Yes Kabs did bail him out a few times. Which is why Nath's idea below is ludicrous given that Cathcart has hardly put a foot wrong so far defensively, while also getting the goal last week.
i bet you waved your pretty little flag at wembley and felt so proud of our support as city put another one in balls deep
