Watched some of the Sao Paolo v Botafoga game last night. I have to say the play acting and diving was worse than anything Richarlison could dream of doing. There were about 10 minutes stopped in the first 20. Absolute joke of a league!
Bet they were cacking themselves when these new rules came in! Still, it's the league where the whole Brazil team comes from, sometimes directly from there too, so it can't be too bad quality wise!
Another thing I wonder - Spartak might still owe Charleroi some of the transfer fee. I don't know if there could be an issue with Charleroi receiving money owed from a Russian club? I wonder if what might be the case is that instead of us paying Spartak anything (which they would then have needed to send to Charleroi), we pay Charleroi directly instead - and then Charleroi agree to write off the figure from Spartak's debt? That way having to send funds to and from Russia is circumvented. In which case the link with us and Bayat isn't actually so tenuous, as it could be another way for us to send money vaguely his way (this time to his brother's club)? If not, then maybe we just found out about the possibility of the deal as Mogi could have heard from his brother that the player was wanting to leave, that Spartak were trying to sell him, or such a deal as above was possible?
If anyone can find a way to circumvent Russian sanctions and help fund Putin's murderous genocide its Gino. Get the deal done!
I guess it's possible, but there's been multiple transfers to/from Russia this summer that have involved fees (Real Sociedad bought a 20 year old from Dinamo Moscow yesterday for €13m and on the opposite end Braga sold someone to Krasnodar the other day for €2m)
Completely lay opinion here, but I'd have thought there wouldn't be an issue there considering Spartak committed to spending that money prior to Russia getting banned?
Not sure if this is true or not, but I heard rumours that Chelsea were in for him but couldn't sign him because of sanctions?
https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...nsfer-news-zakharyan-strasbourg-b1098109.html Just read this that seems as if they tried last summer and in January to pay his release clause but couldn't due to sanctions. Not sure if they've been relaxed somewhat or whether the rules differ from country to country (as the article seems to allude to them using Strasbourg as a workaround). Who knows!
This is one of those cases when you can fairly confidently almost definitively state that no one had (professionals aside!)
Hasn't played a game for a month. Even if he signs tomorrow Ismael probably won't want to use him until after the international break.
From what I’ve seen, admittedly online - he is Kienan Davis II, but with a better long range shot … not seen anyone else linked with him which may tell us all we need to know. Personally I wouldn’t get too excited if this is true, can’t see him getting more than 10-12 goals a season … but what do I know
Davis with a longer shot might not be too bad considering how much time he spends in midfield! Let's hope he has more stamina!
The sort of signing that says "no ambition to do more than stay in the championship, spending as little as possible and occasionally flogging a South American wonder kid for a fat fee".
This (and I say that as a big Davis hater). Not at all impressed by Nicholsons data, recent record or videos I've seen.
We pay Bayat on deals where he's not the agent all the time. We even paid Bayat when we moved Samir from Udinese to Watford! Good job he helped us get that one over the line...
Do you think those talks with a striker all champ teams would be envious of came to nothing ? This can’t have been “the guy” can it ? Seems another very “meh” cheap squad filler no better than Bayo.
Undoubtedly they came to nothing …. Now we are panic buying from the bin of crap that no one wants…. The same thing happens every year and the excuses are prepared by SD well in advance
Wasnt VI or Duxberry or someone at the club quoted not so long ago as saying they werent looking to replace Bayo but get someone in who could compete with Bayo for a starting spot? Which is somewhat at odds of the earlier statement that the striker we were in talks with would make the championship clubs envious
Yes though I suppose it's unlikely that they would have said they were looking for someone "to replace" Bayo in the team as that wouldn't have helped his confidence. Had it been Haaland I'm sure they would still have said "compete with".
