Watford and Sheffield United join Blackburn Rovers and Burnley in transfer battle for Liverpool player | Football League World A cluster of clubs after this lad, and we're reported as being one of them. Right footed centre back who can also play right back. Not really the profile we're after.
Translates as Sepp from the hill which would make a change from centre backs who are simply over the hill.
Let’s remember however, Edwards has consistently said he didn’t want (and there wouldn’t be) a high number of incomings etc. Bayo, Manaj, Asprilla, Gaspar, Choudhury, LCB, Davis. That’s likely to be 7 already. Doubt there’d be many more, even with outgoings.
Davis & Hause would be great business BUT we also need a RWB! Gaspar is ok, but doesn’t really fit the profile for a 46 game season! Kamara out of position makes no sense and Ngakia certainly isn’t the answer!
Yep.....that's the way I see it too. We need a RWB as I don't think Edwards rates Ngakia too highly. Thought Hungbo might be given a go, but it doesn't look too promising for him either. We need to get away from Kamara on the right and Sema on the left as quickly as possible. Gaspar is a good player, and would be perfect for a flat back four. But we don't play that way, so he's a strange signing in a way. He can do a job at RWB of course, but doesn't have the legs for it really. Technically great and reads the game well. So bringing the ball out from the back he's perfect. He'll control it without screwing up, which is a rarity for one of our defenders. So we do need a young, energetic and pacey wingback. I'd say that's now our main concern for incoming players, closely followed by a left footed centre back. If no more strikers (Sarr/Pedro) leave then I'd say RWB and LCB is all we need realistically.
Hungbo is left-footed isn't he? Makes sense for him to be a right-winger cutting onto his stronger foot, but probably not so much to have him as a right wing-back
Played as a right back for Preston all the way up to the middle of last season. Probably a decent bit of business if we can get him
What is the meaning of this “rule of 11”? I’ve seen it banded about numerous times but haven’t bothered to look into it. A rule of 11 overseas players at a maximum? Surely if someone was extremely talented then this rule of 11 can be put to one side…
I really don't get the animosity against Ngakia, he's good enough for the Championsip and given a decent run could surprise people.
Ngakia was OK, but certainly no Kiko at RWB last time, and it's clear already that Edwards doesn't rate him or else he wouldn't have bothered playing Kamara out of position
He's' good enough to be right-back for a mid-table/lower-half Championship side, but not for one chasing promotion. He's also not suited to RWB.
Hungbo had a really successful loan last year in Scotland, now not even making our bench, doesn't look as if Edwards rates him therefore another loan/sell must be on the cards for him. Will be interesting to see the make up in numbers of the squad when someone updates it, 4 outs Dalberg, Samir, Dennis and Fletcher with Choudhury and Davis coming in
No, Edwards doesn't rate him. He is not a wing back. I wouldn't trust him if we play four at the back. I think he will only play if we go to a backline of five. I thought Watford were actively looking to put him out on loan.
