The meistermobile is likely to be replaced in the next year or so.
I'm the perfect candidate for a hybrid car. Daily commute is 20 mins, but occasionally need to do a few hundred miles. But I'm a bit of a petrolhead. Want something a bit sporty, but practical enough to taxi the folks about and fit some golf clubs in the boot. There is not one single interesting hybrid car out out there for sensible money. The BMW 330e was about as close as it gets but it's no longer made.

I haven't bought my last ICE car let alone my last car. Personal transportation won't die until the need for us all to get to different places of work at the same time stops.

I guess it can die anytime a government tells us it will. I've often heard it proclaimed from up high driving licences are a privilege not a right.

Audi have reached level 3 with the A8. Only for extending survival circumstances, but they are there.

Which is a credit to them for creating Tesla who release software to the consumers will before anyone else would consider it ready

  4. Level 3 is technically achievable and there are many OEMs with test mules and pilots around the world, but a level 3 vehicle is not allowed on UK roads as its 'eyes off'.

But yes Audi produce great cars, I have one :)

Level 1 features like cruise control first appeared in the 1950's, so autonomous driving is nothing new, OEMs like Audi have been on an evolutionary path for decades and big mouth idiots like Musk are simply followers.

A range rover just did an unaided lap of the Coventry ring road, merging on and off.

Like the nurburgring is the hardcore benchmark for sports cars, the Coventry ring road has got to be the equivollacy for autonomy. I don't know how anyone thought the slip road system there was a good idea.

The only time you can use cruise control in this country is in the middle of the night.

Yep. Just at the time you risk nodding off at the wheel.

I use mine through average speed camera sections but other than that you do really need adaptive cruise.

Nice, If I filled the back up with batteries and over volted the motor, I might get some decent performance.
Clubs and/or parents can go on the roof.

Is something like that road legal?

We need more cheap, smaller cars with low/zero carbon footprints. How many car seats are left empty on millions of journeys every day? Thousands of tonnes of C02 for nothing

Looks about the same size as a Smart Car, perhaps even a little larger. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't be.
