I'll run this again this year if people are interested: Rules Each gameweek I'll post 5 matches. This will mainly be weekends but if there is a full midweek fixture list then this may also be included. You'll be given plenty of warning! You just need to predict the score for each match. You'll have until KO of the first match that week to make your 5 predictions. Be warned some might be Friday Kickoffs but normally a week will start on a Saturday. If you miss the first game(s) you'll miss out on any point for those games but can still predict for the remaining fixtures that haven't been played yet in that gameweek. Standard point weeks Points are awarded as follows: 10 points for predicting the correct score and result 5 points for correct result but wrong score 2 points (total) if you don't get the correct result but predicted either team's number of goals. So there's a maximum of 50 points per standard gameweek. Bonus point weeks If an FA Cup fixture is included in the gameweek it is for 90 minutes, however double points will be awarded if you want to instead predict an AET (120 minutes) final score (A nice little opportunity to take a risk and catch up if you've fallen behind!). 20 points for predicting the correct AET score 10 points for correct AET result but wrong score 4 points (total) if you don't get the correct result but predicted either team's AET number of goals. Please put AET next to the score if you wish to use this option. I'll make it clear that this is available in that week's thread. No entry, no points for that week. How to enter To sign up for the comp just place your entry in the week 1 thread. I'll allow new entries up to gameweek 5. After that it will be closed as it's a pain to keep adding new people once the league is well under way. Gameweek 1 will be posted in about a weeks time. Anyone who goes awol for 5 gameweeks or more will be removed from the league updates as it's a pain to keep including you! Please keep the entry thread for entries only. Any queries or questions should be in replies to this post.
What happens if you take the AET option for cup games and there is no extra time? Do you not score points for that game regardless of the actual score, even if it would have been correct otherwise? PS: Please put me down for the league.
Cheers Meister. I was going to ask if you could unpin the old ones actually and pin this and the new score update thread once created?
Morning Meister. I don't seem to have any rights to change anything unless it's not immediately obvious. Had a click around but can't amend anything.
Week 1 is up: http://wfcforums.com/index.php?threads/week-1-entries-in-by-12-30pm-on-saturday-12th-august.53120/
Try it now. It's a bit more complicated than I first thought. I'd set you as a moderator but given you no permissions.
Thanks Meister. Just had a look and all seems to be working ok. I can't merge threads though, perhaps that's for those only of a higher power! but I've at least unstickied the old ones and stickied the new one.
Scores update: Ok, week 1 is in. Good start for Gaz on a very commendable 30. Squibba and suffolk - oh dear! Long way to go yet. As an aside, the prediction split was as follows: Correct scoreline and result (10 points): 10% Correct result, wrong scoreline (5 points): 49% Wrong score but 1 team goals correct (2 points): 7% Completely wrong (0 points): 34%
I'm going to be away after this Saturday for a while so please use these blind predictions for me after this Saturday until further notice: - 2-1 1-2 2-1 1-2 2-1 Thank you VoR
Will do. If it helps the next weeks are: Week 3 - 26/27 August: Watford v Brighton Newcastle v west ham Manu v Leicester Chelsea v Everton Liverpool v Arsenal International break Week 4 - 9/10/11 Sept: Arse v Muff Southampton v Watford Burnley v Palace Swansea v Newcastle West Ham v Huddersfield. That covers the next month. So msg me your predictions for these if you want or I'll take your blind predictions.
Thanks for that Meh! I think I'll stick with my blind predictions for week 3 as I think they actually pan out quite well. A s for week 4, I will actually be back a couple of days before the 9th, so I will do them as normal.
So nearly 60% of the time we get the result right. I wonder how that compares to so called professional pundits?
I can add lawros predictions in each week for the 5 games from the bbc site and add him to the league. Can see how you all fare against him. As the super6 is only the saturday 6 then unless I chose the exact games then cant use those but if you know of any other predictions from pundits then can add a few more in.
That sir, is an excellent idea. Can we call him Droaning Scot for the purposes of the competition. If he wins I'll be might peeved.
Can only do it for anyone who predicts all 10 results. If he does thrn fine, but don't want to be tied to super 6 every week, especially as a lot of weeks don't have 5 prem games in it. Does he do a full weekend fixture prediction?
Think he does all Prem but not Football league. Just a thought due to what he said but Lawro is just as good
Ok, so weeks 1, 2 and 3 updated. Most of you will be glad to know you are beating Merse, however after a super week 1, the Droaning Scot is flying high in 5th. Predictions split: Correct scoreline and result (10 points): 6.5% Correct result, wrong scoreline (5 points): 39% Wrong score but 1 team goals correct (2 points): 17% Completely wrong (0 points): 37.5%
Week 4 update. Outstanding weeks for another mrlizard (32) and Godfather (27). The Droaning Scot is in 6th! Predictions split: Correct scoreline and result (10 points): 7% Correct result, wrong scoreline (5 points): 41% Wrong score but 1 team goals correct (2 points): 16% Completely wrong (0 points): 36% Week 4 results: Table:
Could you make the font a bit bigger, this old git, and I would immagine others, is struggling to read this. Thanks
It's difficult with the pc tools I have and so many players. When people start dropping off the league soon it will start to get easier to screengrab a larger image.
