Birmingham mail seem to think we are planning on hijacking Villa's move for Johnstone. Seems to be a fairly good fit, but I can't really say I've seen him play much.

 

This has been coming from decent journalists and news outlets today, might be something in it.
He's homegrown which is what we need from a keeper, he's young and he's got potential so a big yes from me.
Only one year left on his contract too so would be affordable.
Started off poorly at Villa, made some costly errors but once he settled he really shone.
Kept 5 clean sheets in a row at one point and Steve Bruce called him a "diamond".
Maybe not ready for our no.1 spot just yet but atleast he has the potential to unlike all our other backup keepers.

 

I know he was horrific earlier in the season. Villa fans were saying he was letting in what should have been very routine saves. If Harris is right then he sounds like a good shout for backup. Can see Gomes staying as no. 2 next season so would Johnstone come to be a no. 3?

Very decent back up, and has a good amount of talent.

Lots of resale value too.

For £1mil there is nothing to not like about that deal if true. HG, championship experience and a great second half of the season for Villa apparently.

We desperately need to ship out Pants and Arla this window so hopefully this will push them out the door quicker.

 

Why not, £1 million is nothing, will make that back by selling both Pants and Arlauskis.

Doesn't take up a non-HG spot.

Tom Heaton, Ron-Robert Zieler, Michael Keane, Cathcart, Robbie Brady, Drinkwater, Josh King, Shawcross & many more players have been sold / released by Manchester United as youngsters and gone on to forge decent careers, no reason why Sam Johnstone can't be another.

Very much doubt we'll get him for 1 mill, Utd told Villa they wanted 3 just a few months ago.

 

Yea probably just Gino's usual opening gambit. Start the bidding ridiculously low, because you never know your luck.

For 1m I would sign him and loan him out to Villa for another season, if he has a good season we could sell him for a big profit. That seems to be the way the Pozzos work

 

For 1m I'd sell all his body parts to illegitimate medical practioners, probably make 20% profit especially if he's got a rare blood group.

Get PDT to do the dirty work , he looks like it wouldn't be th first time
