Vital Watford are saying we've given a trial to this complete waste of space...... WHY?:rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant::rant: :dismay: http://www.watford.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=70506
He has no club at the moment it is a choice of get his finger out, stop f*****g about and concentrate on playing football OR get a proper job. He may well grab the oppertunity to carry on playing football. when I have seen him he looks to have potential, he just needs to put his social life second and realise that potential.
We have too many waifs and strays thanks... two years ago I'd have said why not, but now we've got money to spend why bring in ANOTHER striker in the (very probable) vain hopes he does a Marlon No thanks.
Yeah. He's former Arsenal/Spurs and Wolves, young central midfielder. If he's any good I guess he'd be a good squad player.
Was rated very highly when the y.ids signed him. I wouldn't mind seeing him here...he's a central midfielder that can trap and pass the ball Could be a Marlon-esque signing. Plenty of potential, needs to knuckle down and prove it. Perhaps being close to London again will help him settle down.
Played on the left as well as central midfield I think for Wolves. I remember he left the Gooners to join Spurs, played a few times, much was expected of him but he seemed to just fizzle out. Come through into the Spurs team along with that other great hope Jonnie Jackson. Would not really add sufficient quality into our squad. As kingjames said, 2 years ago yes, but now we should be looking at better players than him. I suppose if someone like Cavalli went due to failing to settle, he would be OK cover but certainly not a first choice for a club with a bit of money for once
I think hed be a good squad player. Worth taking the gamble espeically as imo our central midfield is particually lightweight without Francis and Williams.
kingjames wasn't talking about the right player. From what I can remember of him, he is indeed a good trapper and passer of the ball and fairly quick. However I thought he was a bit lightweight and can't remember him scoring many goals. I'm not sure how much of a worthwhile addition he would be considering the amount of competent centre-mids we already have.
Two or three years ago i'd have taken Ricketts without hesitation and seen it as a brilliant signing. Now we have money and can sign better players and his career has gone down hill, but i still think it's worth giving him a trial, doesn't mean he will sign. He did once have potential and he should be reaching that potential (if someone can get it out of him) and he should accept he isn't a young wonderkid anymore because he's almost 25! If we sign Ricketts i'm sure it will be on Aidy's terms
If this Marlonesqe project turns out like the origional Marlon project, bring it on, I know the bloke has been a w@nker, but if he does turn up here in a Watford shirt I for one will be giving him my backing right up to the point he turns into another Stevie Kabba.
The reason Arsenal got rid off him was because him and Pennant were out causing trouble at weekends, one of them had to go and it wasn't going to be Pennant
Did Arsenal not give him away free to Spuds because of how Spuds were treated in the Sol Cambell deal??
How spurs were treated? What an out-of-contract pleayer leaving to go to another club? There was nothing Spurs could do I'm afraid...
I know nothing about this player, but judging from the comments so far, we can do without another misunderstood bad boy in the squad. Marlon has reacted magnificently to the challenge of pulling his career around, but we also have several other reforming characters in the squad, with Clarke and Moses as obvious examples. We aren't running a halfway house for borstal rejects here. We need to keep a balance in the squad with some role models for the Moses type characters, not thugs who could lead them astray.
