Anyway, surely there's a club in England who have the money to pay for him. Even if we can rule out Leeds, what about one of the clubs in Europe or Everton? What about a Spanish club? I know he was a flop at Valencia, but you'd think he'd be a much better bet now
SD actually specifically mentioned on the FTRE podcast that Deulofeu really liked the club. Don't think I can remember hearing anything else about the others one way or another, but both WTE and Sierralta came here recently and you'd have to assume they asked the guys who went the other way what they thought about the club before coming here. i mean, I would have in their shoes... Having said that, I think it's mostly impossible to know on whether or not someone enjoyed their time at a club unless they come out and say it. It's not necessarily a bad experience just because you didn't hold down a starting place. I'm sure there are plenty of players who have enjoyed being at a club without playing much. From personal experience, I've had a great time at some jobs that just didn't meet my career aspirations, while other jobs that did meet those aspirations I didn't enjoy.
Well, yeah, and I'm not saying he hated it here, but did he ever look especially happy to be here? Did he ever learn English? Someone like Geri, who the yer das among the fanbase might see as a fancy Dan, did seem genuinely moved when the fans were chanting his name at Norwich, and while he did openly call for a move away when we got relegated, by that time, I don't think anyone would have begrudged him
I remember when he scored the goal where he did that Baby Shark celebration afterwards he seemed very happy.
I suppose, but it was a very good goal! It did seem Geri was fond of us, but I never really got those vibes from Pereyra (not that I'm going to castigate him for it, some people just struggle moving to a different country)
We already got Sierralta mate, not sure this Paul guy is even fit to lace the boots of the Chilean Shittu.
Horses for courses I know, but it does fascinate me how Sierralta massively outshone Troost-Ekong for us, yet WTE was a regular for Udinese (didn't he even captain them occasionally?) while Sierralta toiled away on loan in Serie B
For tax reasons I think we’d need to be able to show we were paying “3rd market price” to avoid transfer pricing issues.
I’m amazed he got away with that public visual slur suggesting that the Pozzos were sharks. Very pleased with himself he seemed too.
I may be wrong about this and please correct me if I am, but I think the English Premier League is the most televised league in the world. Therefore when I said earlier that if nobody comes in for him at the price Udinese want for him during this transfer window, then loaning him to Watford could be their best move. The reason being he will probably be seen more frequently playing in the PL than anywhere else in the world, and hence hopefully attract a suitable buyer after a season showcasing himself whilst playing for WFC.
If they don't want to let him go at a price reduced by the pandemic, then loaning him to us could be a very shrewd move.
Any club seriously considering De Paul isn't going to form an opinion from watching him on Monday Night Football. The whole idea that the Premier League gives you more exposure seems like nonsense to me. Top clubs will have people watching football everywhere 365 days a year. Just like us and our secret army of ghosts going to watch Ethiopian second division reserve games.
Clubs will undoubtedly know all about De Paul, but one unanswerable question so far is how would he get on playing in England. I guess that’s what people mean when they say about him joining us on loan to show other clubs what he’s capable of.
English clubs have the most cash and if he came to us and was a success in the PL, then we’d be able to sell him for a hell of a lot more than they we would currently. If he wasn’t a success here it probably wouldn't harm his value in Italy though. Of course every club knows about him, but there is always that underlying question mark as to whether they can translate that across to the PL. if he can then Gino probably adds at least £20m to his value, if not more. Plenty of PL clubs have spent £50m+ on overseas players who haven’t worked out. One big issue here is that the guy is a human being not actually part of a sex trafficking ring like it often seems Pozzo players are. He may not actually want to slum it at a relegation threatened English club, however much Gino might insist on it if he does actually believes the above scenario to have any legs.
To be fair, if De Paul comes I think we may actually stay up and that is worth far more to the Pozzo family than any fee that they are likely to get for Rodrigo De Paul. It also seems like players typically go for more money in the Premier League so if he proves himself in England the likelihood is they can get more money for him and cash in an extra 145 million or whatever it is for keeping us up. To me it makes the most sense to send him here.
if he is so good then how come udinese are so shyt? Last time I looked they were getting smashed 5-1.
3 more years if Transfermarkt is to be believed https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-de-paul/profil/spieler/255901
You mean someone like Fekadu Mekonin who plays for Arba Minch City? He has potential but I don't think he is an improvement on our current forwards. He is fast but his first touch is poor. Okiki Afolabi, who plays for Sidama Coffee, would be a better bet. He has scored 25 goals in his last 32 games but has had recurring injury problems. However he could be cheap as the Coffee are struggling this season.
I think he would be excellent. Technically sound, creative, not afraid to get stuck in, physical and great stamina. An all action player. He will be at the Copa so that might affect preseason when he signs for us.....
It's not outlandish to think he might arrive. If you consider both clubs form one family business, moving assets to where the gains (£) are much bigger in order to sustain those gains is common sense. And outweighs a transfer fee if successful. And he'll likely command a similar fee in 1 or 2 years time.
