RIP El Cazador Novato (Rafael Martínez Arteaga)

A poet and singer of great artistic value who developed the music of the llanos of the Colombia/Venezuela border.

Born 26th January 1940 and died in March this year. He was indian from the Orinoco.

His name, Cazador Novato, means 'the novice hunter' and his most famous poem has the same name. His poems are very down to earth and very funny. Very macho. They use the harp which came to Venezuela with the Spanish court music.

Well I don't suppose it will mean much to most, but if there are Spanish speakers who can understand then I would recommend his poems.
