    - Prone to serious knee injury and hardly kicked a ball in the past year
    - Barely played at this level, scoring just one goal
    - Best performances have come in an obscure league
    - Coming towards the end of his prime years
    - A "punt" that people are sure will be well worth it, just like Perica, Manaj, Bayo etc. etc. etc.

    We're back, baby!

As for Hauge he's had a fookin mare since Zlatan publicly slagged him off. There was an article in the Norwegian press saying his head has gone resulting in a draining of confidence. He's not even getting into the Norwegian squad ATM, I fully confident and focused Hauge would be a certain starter for them.
I believe he was in or is still having therapy to help the situation.
Manga knows all about him and I for one will keep an eye out to see if there's any movement on this.

Vydra, Ighalo and Dennis were all punts when you look at their record before us. That's the very definition of a punt, some work out, some don't.

We're now a mid table Championship team who almost certainly don't have a lot of money to spend as we frittered it away on crap. Can remain angry at the previous (and quite probably ongoing) mismanagement without writing this bloke off straightaway. Also, I'm not going to check back as I can't be arsed but my sense is that Perica, Bayo and Manaj were all viewed as underwhelming signings at the time.

This place isn't exactly representative of the common fan for lots of reasons. I
Don't suppose Tom Cleverley has a middle name starting with b? If so he's got those top 3 places sown up.

I was being a bit provocative tbf as I know little about him, however I thought Aruejo would destroy this league, so what do I know.

I knew Bayo would be **** though.

Don’t really understand why people are complaining that he’s “only scored” in levels worse than the championship when the same people are constantly suggesting players that play in League’s 1 and 2.

We ain't gonna get 'proven Championship goalscorers', and besides, we had two of those in 20/21, they were Deeney and Gray...

Will be positioned as our main striker. Limited to 8 appearances and 2 goals due to injuries.

Cheap punts don't win promotion if that still is even the objective

Well, there's a difference between an up and coming player who has proven himself at a lower level and may step up.

My point was that he appears to have shown he cannot play at a higher level, hence his success only coming once he stepped down.

But I'm happy to take @reids view as we are close to starting a podcast together.

Finally, someone with a genuinely consistently exciting goal record. On board with this one! Beats the likes of Rey Manaj with 4 career goals

Yes, for a fleeting moment we were all delighted we'd signed him rather than that guy from BHA.

I agree. Ligue 2 has thrown up some good finds. Sadly, Rhys Healey is not one of them.
A three year deal is crazy with his injury record. He will very pleased with the deal. He should have been offered a one year deal only.
Some good football played in Ligue 2. It's becoming a bit of a yo yo promotion/relegation with the Championat lately.
Some good young players in the Championat, but our time is over for signing those type of players.
I said free transfers and free agents is the way we will go as we are broke.

I looked at Healey’s stats in the Championship across his entire career. He played a grand total of 283 mins (scoring one goal). That’s fewer mins than Ryan Andrews or Matheus Martins played last year. He was never given much of a chance. His last Championship appearance was over 5 years ago.

Why would you put so much weight on such a small sample set from so long ago and discount all his goals scored at Ligue 2 level (which is a similar level to the Championship). Surely that record in Ligue 2 is much more reflective of his level?

As an aside, I’d note some players are late bloomers and only come to show their quality later in the careers. Prior to this season Chuba Akpom (who is 27) had 8 goals in 91 appearances in the Championship. And he was this year’s top scorer. Development isn’t linear.

And yet when we release a player who then goes on to forge a career at a lower level, people rationalise that by saying 'he wasn't good enough for here, that's why he didn't play more.'

Surely a player's most recent record matters more than anything they achieved or didn't achieve 5 or more years ago?

On the flip side, he almost certainly has multiple interested parties. Maybe they were offering 2 year deals, so it took a 3 year deal to get him to come to us? He'll only be 31 at expiry, that's not that bad.

    Both.

He was suggested by a few people in the transfer forum last summer already - then a few weeks after that YellowKicks said we were supposedly looking at him but then he got that injury.

More positive than usual there Moog.

I have never heard of this guy before researching him, his injury record is concerning but has got a good goal scoring record in Ligue 2. Hopefully he stays fit but that is a big IF atm.

Not saying he's going to be amazing, but I'm guessing you never followed Watford in the mid-90's and mid-2000's? If you had been, with the signings we made back then Nath, your pants would have been permanently soiled I think.
