Return To Vicarage Road...

  1. Anybody done the club survey yet? One of the things they are looking at is reduced numbers with social distancing, tickets dished out by ballot.

Yes, it also asked about whether to allow away fans in as well.

Would be interesting to see how the ballot idea would work. Would there be a limit to how many games you can go to, or could you get lucky and get pulled out to go to every game!

sod a ballot, longest standing season ticket holders should have priority imo

Why should they be the ones punished?

ST Holders who bothered going to League Cup first/second round matches should get first dibs on tickets. Or FA Cup matches against lower league opponents. That's about 8,000 people.

Filled it out. I’d be okay having 30% games and others get the rest.

I think the ground should be left to the lunatics who power clapped the 0-0 with Sheff Utd. These people are enchanted with anything so it’s good for accoustics.

Will be interesting how they handle season ticket credits etc if they have to stagger the games for supporters!

Be about half of who will go anyway.

Even when fans do go there will be 2-4K empty seats.

    I said I can't go back yet.

Don't fancy the long trip on public transport to get there. The stadium part is maybe doable.

Also said no to away fans....not ideal to mix people from around the country when you don't have to.

    The pandemic isn't over yet.

If it is to be a ballot, those who win a ballot can't be entered for subsequent ballots until all those eligible (ie. ST holders) have had a chance to buy a ticket. If you win a ballot and don't take up your ticket, you can't be entered for subsequent ballots because you can't be picky about which matches you attend.

Yes to staggered arrive/leave times to avoid challenges to social distancing.

No to away fans because home fans should have priority where only a quarter/third of our own ST holders can get in to any given home game.

    my views:

    Ballot
should be open to everyone on a match by match basis. People enter prior to cut off date. Likelihood of being picked weighted by Fan group both home and away. (e.g. Home group A 5 times more likely to be picked than Home Group D)
If picked your weighting is halved, if not picked your weighting increases 25 %, if picked but you don't buy/attend, then weighting is quartered.

    Away Fans
Definitely, part of football is the banter with the opposition fans, inside and outside the stadium

    Staggered entry Exit
Yes, if it makes it safer

    Will I attend?
really not sure, I'd love to but with the possible threat of second wave, my age, health, do I want to risk it for football (a non essential activity)

    Final Thought
Pricing should be fixed on a game by game basis, but there should be retrospective discounts applied for number of games attended (to compensate for ST holders) (e.g. if you attend 10 games you get 10% discount, 15 games 15% discount)

This is the longest I have gone without going to the Vic since my first game in '94. The football has been dreadful to watch for the past 18 months bar a couple of games, but I am really missing the matchday routine and seeing all the usual folk around me. Couple that with my enthusiasm now we are back in a far more entertaining league and I can't wait to get back in.

All sounds a bit **** really, stadium will be a third full and be occupied by those weird season ticket holders who have been going for years but don't really know what's going on and will fight to the death over their designated season ticket seat.

Does anyone really want to be given a pre-set arrival time, to sit in a stadium that's maybe a quarter full, while wearing a face mask, to watch Deeney (if he's still here) stroll around for an hour and a half, before some berk in a hi-vis coat says its ok for you to go home?

This may have been discussed elsewhere, but what is the proposal re: televising / streaming live coverage of the games in Championship next season?

  27. Cassetti's Beard

    Cassetti's Beard First Team

Every game was streamed during lockdown through club websites. EFL and Sky came to an agreement so guess it's up to them really as to whether that continues, you'd imagine it would as I'm sure there's plenty of money to be made through advertising and the cost per game (10 quid for non season ticket holders per game according to the article below).

I'm afraid I don't think anyone will care much about this. I expect Sky to continue their exclusive coverage next season but without any free to air games. All midweek games have been available on Sky by the red button as well as the live game they are covering and there has been some talk that the rule banning 3pm Saturday live coverage could be cancelled so that all Saturday games could be shown too. If this happens almost every game would be available to Sky subscribers. If you don't have Sky I doubt if you would find a dodgy stream of the red button games, so it would perhaps be down to the club to offer Sky access. This was done in the season just finished for season ticket holders at Championship clubs through the iFollow platform but the status of season ticket holders for 2020/21 is unknown at the moment.

I already have Disney+ so don't need a Sky subscription to watch Mickey Mouse leagues.

Overseas fans have access to all EFL games via ifollow.

It's essentially a streaming season ticket and each club has their own ifollow service. I think a handful opted out but the majority do. It's single camera coverage with no commentary.

I believe for lockdown the EFL opened this up to UK fans as well.

To be honest going to a game without 80% of our fans being there sounds great.

The only thing that would make it better would be if the players weren't allowed to turn up either.
