Less fear against any opposition would be an improvement.

It was only down to luck. Look at the stats. Every now and then this will happen like CP at Citeh last season. We just need the same luck.

I agree with you that statistically a shock result will inevitably happen now and then but, looking at that match in isolation, it’s a bit harsh to say “It was only down to luck“. Norwich probably played as well as they can and fully took advantage of Man City having an off day. I can think of several examples when Watford have played top 6 teams who didn’t play at their best on the day but we haven’t taken advantage of it and still lost.

Imagine being the team next weekend when City prove that yesterday was just an off day

I feel sorry for that team, they’re gonna get thumped. It’ll probably set a new Galactic record for a defeat.

Villa looked very average tonight, huffing, puffing and ultimately failing to break down 10 man West Ham

Yawnarama that game was. End to end last 10 mins before that though forgetable.

They're kind of the opposite to us - decent defence, but lacking ideas in attack.

Embarrassing to ourselves and the league as a whole

We're not down yet. We are only 2 points down on corresponding results from last season.

The next two games will be an indicator to say if we are going to be easy prey or do we have enough fight to pull out of trouble. Lose both, then yes, it could our turn. Win both and everything will seem totally different.

But after the ease in which we surrendered today, 0-5 after 18 minutes, seriously......there has to be a lot of soul searching now. New manager and the bounce just did not happen.

  15. GoingDown

    GoingDown "The Stability"

Lose our next 4 games and we'll still only be only 5 points down on corresponding fixtures! No need to panic at all. We'll get all our points in exactly the same games as last year.

    The Orns are staying up!

Next two games are must wins. Beat Wolves and Sheff Utd and we’re ok. Lose both and we are down.

We need to change this thread to Championship prep 20/21 now. Look at how Huddersfield have struggled this season. Can see us battling to stay out of League One this time next year. Never a dull moment I suppose...

We are still probably one point better off than we would have been under Javi.
If shots converted into goals against Arsenal had matched yesterday we would have thumped them too.
As Hornetboy says we are two points worse than equivalent games last year. Let's see how we fare in the next few games before we go to the doctor..

No, no, no , no - it's far more on trend for the doommongers, naysayers and negative nigels/nellies (they know who they are) to spout their poison.

I was once one of the more vociferous "Keen Out" and then "Bonser Out" brigade, but to call for "Pozzos out" is just plain ludicrous not to say extremely nasty.

No doubt I'll be accused of being a 'happy clapper' whatever that is. Never had the clap in my life.

I was firmly in the Bonser out brigade. Could not wait for Elton to take over the reins, and we must remember, without him there would have been no Graham Taylor for us.

Norwich, Muff and Sheff Utd winning unexpected matches isn't helping. We need CP & Newcastle and A Villa to keep us company. There is no rubbish relegation-fodder like HTFC and Cardiff this season....other than us.

Apart from us, the most vulnerable sides in the league this season are Brighton, Newcastle and Palace. At this stage I can see all four teams slugging it out at the bottom come May. Norwich, Villa and Sheff Utd will probably level off and join the party by then too. Southampton should be ok, but they'd be my outside bet at this stage.

Unfortunately we've already been destroyed at home by Brighton and only got 1 point at Newcastle. Our problem is two of those "bankers" have already been played with little reward.

Southampton will be down there. In fact I would say it's 3 from 9. Us, Villa,Newcastle, Norwich, Brighton, Southampton, Palace, Sheff Utd, Burnley. I wouldn't discount Bournemouth despite their good start and Wolves might be in a bit of bother if they don't start winning. It looks like being tight division this season, currently 4 points separate the teams from 7th to 19th.
