Nobody is crowing. However, some people are grated by the fact that they have taken dogs abuse on here for 2 seasons and the same people are sagely nodding that they recognised it all along.

I'm gutted we are going own. I doubt we'll come back. But I can't stand some of our fans.

Because there’s no obvious ceiling, the games are all way closer before a ball is kicked and mainly because it might force us to strip back and rebuild.

Firstly, do you agree a lot of our playing squad needs to be moved on?

Secondly, do you think it’ll be easier to get rid of them in The Prem or The Championship?

Well, there we go. Relegation all but confirmed, and I don’t think that anyone here can deny that we deserve this.

I’ve been resigned to the idea of relegation pretty much all season and yet tonight I am just absolutely gutted.

I am ******* sick of this club.
The owners who have seemingly lost all control the last few years and totally undermined all the efforts of the first few years of their reign. No communication with the fans, baffling managerial appointments and oddly timed sackings, and a bizarre insistence on assembling a squad of mismatched players of sub par ability on stupidly long contracts and ridiculous wages.
The parade of head coaches who do not play to the strength of the players they have been provided, nor show any ability to change up tactics or motivate any of the players when we could well have stayed up this year on effort alone.
And of course the disgrace of a playing squad. I have seen some total dross at Watford in my several years of supporting the club, and yet I would pick any of them over the utter, utter cnuts that we have been stuck with this year. All year we have had to put up with these morons failing to perform even the most basic footballing functions, unable to string 2 passes together or even take a shot on goal. But even worse has been the total lack of effort and desire to even get out of the pit they dug for themselves.

We are Watford supporters - far from glory hunters, for the most part we are simply realists who are used to seeing a team of less talented footballers give their absolute all for the club. And we loved them for it. I see absolutely none of this spirit from the current set of pricks we have had the misfortune of watching scratching their arses and shuffling around the pitch.

I genuinely loathe the lot of them. Seeing any of their stupid, lazy, talentless faces makes me want to punch a hole in the wall. We will not being coming back up next year, the club is rotten to the core and we are much more likely to become the next Charlton, Sunderland or Hull. Nothing short of a total overhaul of playing staff and the way the club is managed from the top will prevent this from happening, I would bet my house on it.

I don’t think I’ve expressed myself very well at all here but f*ck it, I’m somewhere between distraught and apoplectic at the moment.

We’ve all been as **** as each other since the restart, we began it being ahead by +1 on GD and we’re currently behind -1 on GD. We’ve bettered Bournemouth and are slightly worse than Villa.

I can find nothing positive to post tonight, and that’s unusual for me.

The Liverpool victory took us out of the bottom three and for the first time things were in our own hands. And we’ve messed up royally.

The whole season has been a train wreck. Bad decision after bad decision. Maybe chickens have finally come home to roost, but whatever, it seems all the good work done by many people over the last few years has been chucked away.

We’ve seen other sides in the PL do the same too over the past few years. Clubs who think they’re a comfortable mid table outfit suddenly get complacent, take their eyes off the ball, start making stupid decisions that give the impression they’re making things up on the hoof. Stoke. West Brom. And now it seems us.

It just feels worse too because we’ve had lockdown to endure, we’ve all lived through a really traumatic few months, life’s felt pretty depressing in general and most of us probably counted down the days until the season re-started so we’d have something to look forward to. Some sort of normality after a horrible time.

    And we get this.

    Uff.

  11. IRB

IRB THe artist formally know as ImRonBurgundy?

Spot on, and this is what really sets this iteration of 'Watford' apart for me

There isn't a single player in the entire squad who I give a **** about ever seeing play for us again. I don't care about the 'honest pros' like Deeney and Foster, I don't care about the battling, average players like Hughes or Kiko, I don't care about the flair players who show up half a dozen times a season like Geri and Sarr and, to be completely frank (if a little harsh) I don't give a **** about Cucho or Pedro or Suarez or whoever else is currently being bigged up as the next 'Penaranda'

The squad is a rotten mix of toxic egos, who aren't technically good enough or mentally strong enough for the Premier League (despite most of them thinking they are of course). I'll be glad to see the back of 90% of them and i'm violently indifferent about the fate of the other 10%

  12. Bubble

Absolutely 100% deserve to be relegated. Not sad about any of this, i'm not even fuming anymore, what's the point?! I was fuming after we lost to Burnley, Southampton and WHU with no ounce of fight, aggression, passion or motivation, now it's par for the course.

I feel for Hayden Mullins as he's just been told to walk the plank. He's got absolutely no chance of turning this around with this bunch of useless sh*t c**ts 'playing' for him.

I have supported the Pozzo's all the way and thank them for what they did for our football club over the past 8 years or whatever it is, but now it's time to go! The owners are more interested in off field squabbling with nothing clubs like Everton than they are trying to invest in the playing squad and support managers with buying players that we need!

We've been begging for 2 decent centre-backs and a striker since the Mazzarri days!!

The wheels have well and truly come off and I can't see how we can stop the rot unless we have a huge clear out, starting with the owner/Giraldi and Captain Cojones.

Let's just hope and pray we get some resignations on Monday morning after we've been gang raped by Arsenal.

The amount of debt we are in, it’s going to take a lot of rebuilding.

Yes a lot of our playing squad needs to be moved, however on the wages they are on, it’s going to be extremely difficult to do that now.

It’s was easier to get rid of them in Prem. Not only is it harder in the championship, because no-one will want Gray so we’re stuck with him, but also our top players will be penny pinched.

Stay in the Prem, it’s much easier to sell a striker like Gray for £8-10mil to a promoted/championship team. Being in the championship, is a different story.

Also staying in the Prem, someone like Sarr who we splashed £40mil on, won’t want to be there, Pozzo won’t want to take a loss. So what will happen, agent will kick and scream, player unrest, sell Sarr for £30mil to Liverpool and so it goes on.

The premier league gives you a status in the footballing world. It’s the most watched league worldwide. It puts you on the map. Players that normally wouldn’t sign for us, have and would have continued to do so, simply because we’re a Prem team. Now we can’t say that.

Relegation is a disaster for us.

Will be interesting to see what the Pozzos actually do here. Our sale value just went through the floor. Will they want to cash out at the bottom? When they'll believe they have the means to get us straight back up again?
I think for better or worse we're stuck with them for a while. My best guess is this time they'll aim to get us back up, keep us up and sell out in the second or third season. Whether they can actually do it or not is another question.
Expect another barrage of Udinese rejects.

We’ve needed a good centre back and a good striker for about 3 years now.

Lots of people point to Andre Gray as the poster child of where it all went wrong, but I think Mariappa is the epitome of our failures in the transfer market.

When we bought him back, he was a last-minute, cheap backup. He’s now, 3 years later and at the age of 33, seemingly our first choice right back.

We are a side which consists of players which have limited ability and/or don’t give the tiniest **** about whether we stay up or not. There’s no bravery, no leadership and no willingness/ work rate. We’re weak and pathetic.

We’re getting relegated in the weakest premier league season we’ve witnessed since our promotion, and the worst thing is that it is entirely self-inflicted and thoroughly deserved.

I could easily see us becoming another of so many "established" Premier League clubs who suddenly drop out and then at worst continue to drop like a stone or at best flounder about in lower mid-table in the Championship. This football club is a mess. There are clearly a number of toxic elements both in terms of the people running the club and the playing squad and I don't see how we turn it around. Most of the squad won't take us anywhere even in the Championship and anyone of any talent or potential is going to want out.

We are going to be lumbered with utter dog crap like Deeney, Cleverley, Gray, Cathcart etc. in the Championship and it's going to be another long, painful season watching crap players play crap football.

We have already borrowed heavily against next years Premier league money.
Relegation is a financial disaster for Watford and Bournemouth. Norwich will be ok financially.
We deserve everything we get from now on.
Years of poor investment, poor management, poor transfer dealings and players that are just not good enough.
Aston Villa showed fight tonight against Arsenal. This was something our players were just not capable of at all.
This is a sad time to be a Watford fan, given the lack of fight from the players, this relegation has made a lot of fans angry and disillusioned with the whole set up at Watford.
The fallout will be massive, on and off the field.
Non playing staff will be sacked, players will be sold or let go on a free.
We are in a real mess and with the rumours of Gino putting the club up for sale as well, things do not look good for the future of Watford FC.

I would love to agree but this past season has been nothing close to huffing puffing. It’s been a wheeze by an asthmatic with lung cancer.

Edit: my response was underrated in the Man City thread, so I moved it here.

It was so avoidable, that is what stings the most. But we do have some good young players in the squad, and a core of British players that , with the right management (ha!) should be good enough to mount a strong promaton challenge

Who is in this core of British players who will help us mount a promotion challenge? They're all absolute toilet.

This is the problem though. We'll play the same game again next season where these same old names will be deemed good enough by our idiot owner and fans, just like they were this season.

Yep, just like they were more than good enough to stay up this season. Their hideous performances, age and lack of any obvious fight really suggest they're ready to take the Championship by storm.

I hope you guys that are saying you won't be renewing your ST's really mean it, because I gave my long standing ST up a few years back for personal non-football related reasons, and I have not been able to get a one since.

So hopefully I will be able to get a ST for next season, be it PL or Championship, I will also probably try to get my two grandsons one too while the opportunity arises although they are possibly a little young just yet? However, because I might struggle to get them one in a season or two I might bite the bullet and get them now, just in case a whole new lot of "Johnny Come Lately Fans" emerge from the woodwork and snap them all up, when we rebuild and get back on the up.

I'd say we have less than 20% chance of surviving now. Less than likely to get a result at Arsenal, given our form, spirit and managerless status even worse chance than usual. In fact given the teams belief has fallen off a cliff edge 20% chance is optimistic. Then a 50/50 chance Villa match our result anyway.

Press are having a laugh. Pearson would have lost last night and we would be in the same position.

Season hasn't been a disaster, its been many disasters. Dawson representing our defensive saviour, pre season fitness issues, Sarrs oddly slow intro to the first team, Pape Gueye running away, GD injury, not planning for Deeneys inevitable old age slow down, Pussettto being our attacking saviour in Jan, Andre Grays lockdown party, conceding 8 at Man City, I could go on.

Its not one thing, as ever its a combination of things all at the wrong time all at once or back to back.
