West Ham just put themselves back in it.

I think they lose to Burnley as their next game.

Then they play Norwich which they should win, as should we.

Then they play us, that now has a huge importance if they lose to Burnley.

    Then it’s Man Utd.

    Finishing with Villa.

Liverpool looking lethargic in the opening stages against Villa. Still hungover?

Knowing our luck Villa will win or draw .

They seem to have a good record at Anfield.

Not getting any better. 35 minutes in and no shots on target.

Liverpool not interested. They seem to just be waiting for the season to end now. Not sure they are bothered about scoring and would be very worried in AV nick one.

More reason to despise Liverpool so far.

They’ve been awful. It’s proper Sunday league kick and hope stuff. If this was Watford they’d be getting hammered on the shoutbox.

Don't assume we'll beat Norwich - we're utter carp. Last 10 games has us 2nd to bottom. Villa and West Ham have more about them, with us and Bournemouth to join Norwich in the Championship.

Been texting a mate who supports Villa. He watched us yesterday for the first time since the restart and couldn’t believe how bad we were. I tried telling him last week how bad we’ve been but most fans are deprecating of their own team and he seemed to brush it off and say Villa are the same.
After yesterday though I think he'll be much more confident of survival. Said we looked like we were in a training match.

Ugh, wouldn’t be surprised if Villa nick this. Mr HH says he’s never seen Liverpool passing this badly. They just don’t look interested.

Obviously Liverpool have decided to be abysmal for some reason, however, fair play to Villa

This performance is everything we should have aspired to last night. Strengthens my belief that they will grind their way above us over the final few games

Tough on Villa but you never get the luck when you're down the bottom.

Unless you're us and keep being given chance after chance to get out of trouble.

Mings is clearly injured, Grealish took a few knocks first half but seems to have recovered however

Despite the late heartbreak, i've still seen enough from Villa to suggest that they can finish above us

I don’t think we can take much from a performance against a team that has already won the league. We’re rubbish and Villa are still below us, they haven’t just improved over the last 90 minutes.

Even just a point from both Burnley and Southampton and we'd be looking in a very healthy position.

I just can't see us beating anyone, even Norwich. Villa will overtake us at some point

They’ve performed fairly well (for a relegation threatened team) since we restarted. They’ve clearly decided that they needed to be much more solid defensively and have done well to quite quickly change tactics to make themselves harder to beat - the problem for them now is that they’ve sacrificed most of their attacking intent.

As we saw under QSF, poorer sides have to pick one or the other: they can’t be great at attacking and defending (if they were then they wouldn’t be poor!).
I think they’ve shown enough resilience and character to persuade me that they will be in with a chance in each of their remaining fixtures. It only takes one bit of magic from Grealish and we can wave bye-bye to the Prem.

It’s painful to watch us being given opportunity after opportunity to pull away from trouble, and yet continue to perform in the most insipid, gutless fashion.

    We’re a complete ****stain of a club.

It's crazy that it is still in our hands to survive. Literally how bad must the others be if they haven't overtaken us yet. I'm sure they will at some point though.

To be fair though I have watched all of Villas games since the Leicester game before the postponement, I don't think they are much better. On first glance they may have looked like they did okay today but Liverpool beat them in first gear, it was not the same Liverpool before winning the league and its not the same as going to a packed Anfield, they rested a few players as well, I actually think Villa missed an opportunity today.

From what I saw, I reckon we played better against a much trickier Liverpool side at Anfield earlier in the season.

There in lies the major frustration of the season. We know Watford have got the performances in there to stay up, we’ve seen it at times this season. It just seems that generally the players (as we have seen also over the years now) are simply lazy and not arsed half the time. Something rotten going on.
