Please don't shoot the messenger, I really don't want to be the bearer of bad news but the words 'quit' and 'relegation' are coming up in the same news titles as us. I know it has been done for a long while and will only be a time when players and fans for us start boycotting if we don't show improvements. I'm not sure if this is out on mb yet, didnt see it in posts. Once again im only the messenger. If you wondering what the hell im talking about lol, then sky sports has done a nice 4 paragraphs on Jay threatening to leave!!!!! Discuss.... Hopefully the link works http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=445878&CPID=8&clid=57&lid=&title=Jay's+quit+threat
If its true we can get a decent fee, if its not true then we keep a decnt CB. Nothing to fuss over. Jay is decent at best - does some great things and does some terrible costly things. Probably would get into Foolhams team.
Jay is a long way from the finished article and needs Malkie or Dan next to him (I present Man U as evidence m'lord). His inexperience has cost us a number of games. Balance that with his undoubted talent and commitment he is one of a few current squad members that should definitely be held on to.
Jay DeMerit has revealed that he will listen to offers if Watford are relegated from the Premiership. The American defender has been one of Watford's better players this term, but he is concerned by the club's current plight. Watford are rooted to the foot of the table, seven points adrift of fourth-bottom Wigan, and DeMerit is not prepared to turn his back on the Premiership. "I hope we can stay up but it's out of my hands - No it's not Jay - stop giving away stupid penalties," DeMerit told the Sun. "If there are Premiership teams that would be interested of course I'd talk to them." DeMerit played a key part in Watford's climb to the Premiership last term, scoring in the play-off win over Leeds, and signed a new deal in the summer.
I'm suprised Jay has done this, he seems so down to earth. And Aidy said he saw him as a future captain. It's probably quotes being taken out of proportion (or that's what i hope) and i'm sure Aidy can convince him to stay. Jay is worth more in terms of spirit and determination than he is in cash (imo) and that's why i thought we should hang onto him - especially as he has a good partnership with Shittu. I doubt he'd be a regular in any premiership side, i knew he had ambition, but considering he'd be at Northwood were it not for us I thought he'd stick by us (unless Fulham and Lewington are sniffing around).
i have been reliably informed by jay himself that this is a typical sun story. he was doing an interview with some american website, and was asked if watford were to go down would he like to remain in the premiership. his answer was yes, he would like to stay in the premiership, but only with watford. he is not going anywhere this season or next. going by the suns previous, it is clear to me who is being honest, and who is twisting words. a complete bullshyte story.
He wont want to spend the rest of his days in England being a Yank plus as far as I knew, he was always hell bent on getting into the US team. Thats not gonna happen whilst plying his trade for lowly Watford in the Champ (see last season)..... My moneys on him leaving in the summer to somewhere like Newcastle or even Reading!
Nothing to Worry About Because of his time at college Jay has less time to fulfull his ambitions and at 27 years of age already needs to keep his options open. Due to the fact that he is still under contract in the summer the club really holds all the cards and will only release the player is a suitable bid is made. Whilst Jay is a competent CB there are areas of his game that need to be improved (particularly his habit of tugging back opposition forwards in the penatly area) .
