    He was very highly rated when he partnered Bonucci at Bari (more so than Bonucci was).
    Obviously since then Bonucci has improved and Ranocchia has regressed.

    There's definitely a very good defender in there.

    Totally disagree. Not the quickest but an absolute monster in the air. You don't become Inter Captain and win national caps by being awful.

    Not really fair to hide behind "Inter captain" like it means something when Inter finished 8th that season even with the 2nd highest goal scorer in the league. So if they were scoring goals I wonder where the problems were..?

    Alas as Inter are finally competing for European places again Ranocchia is considered not good enough.

    He was Inter captain during their worst period in the last 2 decades, he was booed by their fans after some particularly awful performances and gained a reputation for mistakes gifting goals to the opposition

    Ranocchia has been described as a large, strong, and physically imposing centre back, with good tactical knowledge and concentration, as well as an ability to read the game and time his tackles well.[18][19][20] He has predominantly drawn praise for his aerial ability, making him a goal threat from set pieces, and former Inter centre back Marco Materazzi has described Ranocchia as his heir due to his own aerial prowess.[21] A former attacking midfielder,[22] he is also known for being comfortable in possession due to his solid technique and reliable distribution.[18][19] Regarded as one of the most promising Italian defenders of his generation in his youth,[19] former Inter full-back and captain Javier Zanetti has also praised Ranocchia for his leadership, which eventually saw him inherit the role of club captain.[18][23] In recent seasons, however, Ranocchia has drawn criticism due to his decision making and proneness to errors when under pressure, as well as his lack of pace, as his fitness has been affected several injuries.[19][20][24][25]

    Inter fans think he is an absolute joke and are very, very quick to say so. They have been begging to get rid of him for about 3 seasons now, so this would be an absolutely R E T A R D E D move. And no, this isn't one of those "just because he's not quite consistently good enough for a club as big as Inter...", as others have pointed out he got his position there at a very low time in their history, and has been massively disappointing the entire time.
