What can the man be thinking after last night? I don't normally knock Aidy, but he must have shot whatever confidence Priskin has to pieces when he put on Shittu instead of him. Do you think Priskin should have been given a run out, I do.
Yes I agree, one of our managers most bizzare decisions. What would you do? a) Put a Hungarian International Striker up front or b) Put a centre half up front When goals are required, the choice is yours....
Apparently Shi2 was used a few times for the Rs as an emergency striker - however I agree that Tamas needs to be given a chance.
I feel sorry for the lad, being behind Shittu in the pecking order. It is certainly not the way I would have done it with my team, but then again I am not manager of Watford, so I have little impact on what Aidy does.
Myself and my nephew spent the last 30 minutes of the game shouting at the TV for him to bring Priskin on and when i saw Shittu brought on in his stead i was aghast. I would not be suprised if Tamas didnt put in a transfer request with the lack of confidence shown in him by Aidy. I hate to criticise anything aidy does but that was without doubt the most bizzare decision i have seen him make since his arrival. As it stands we are thin on the ground with strikers.. why didnt he consider taking Powell off for shittu and have Priskin come on for Macnamee pushing Priskin up front to help a lacklustre Henderson. We had very few shots on goal and the ones we did have had nothing behind them. The freekicks taken were bizzare also... it was nice to see them try fancy things with them but you need to have the capability to do fancy things before you try them... we didnt have it last night.
It was a strange decision to put Shittu on, but he did win all the headers and nearly scored, the Blunts defence couldn't cope with him. Its a shame that Richard Lee didn't capitilise on Shittu's power by sending the goal kick to him, as he was on the right and Lee kept kicking to the left! But I do agree Priskin should of played last night.
The strange thing is that BigDan(TM) looked by far our most dangerous attacker in the second half. I've been sticking up for Doris, but tonight he just didn't get into it. The service didn't help - Macca was anonymous and I really can't see how Tommy Smith got MOTM as I thought he was poor. On the bright side Jay, Malkie and Rich Lee all had fairly good games. Take into account that we were missing 5 first teamer and it doesn't look (quite) so bleak.
So what exactly would Priskin have given us ? We needed somebody to unsettle their 2 centre backs and even Henderson rarely did this. Now Shittu was the answer to this not Priskin.
An eye for goal, thats what Tamas can give us. He is a one of the few ACTUAL STRIKERS we have on our books, so given the chance he could just put a few in the net. Its finishers we are lacking and he's a natural finisher, so I say give him a chance!
Bringing Dan on was almost an inspired moved imo. Priskin would not have won the balls Dan did, whenever i've seen Priskin play he's look more out of his depth than Darius did. the fact that ONLY 3 or 4 first teamers were out is the most concerning.
I would have sent on both Priskin and Shittu for Henderson and Macca. Priskin is pretty good with the ball at his feet so Shittu wining the headers for him to use might have worked better IMO Hendo looked knackered and I can't blame him he had no support from Smith and Macca for long periods and anything he won he ahd to go for the 2nd ball as well - can name me a strker that can win the header and get on the end of it that isn't Drogba or another 15mil+ player becuase I can't. No digs at any posters but invitation to discuss...
as we have nothing to lose now, Shittu and Priskin up front then? The problem is, Malky had a shocker on tues so i would imagine Dan will come in from him at the back. A lot depends on it young and bouazza will be fit. Doris is certainly not going to win many headers against Dunne and Richards alone up front
I agree. I've got to say I wondered what on earth Aidy was doing when he put Shittu up front but I thought it worked very well and he did a good job. I would then have taken Henderson off as he looked exhausted and given Priskin a go. He might have worked well off Danny.
Have to disagree, Doris has had the better of some good defenders this year, King and Dawson struggled for Tottenham and from what I saw Primus and Campbell had problems as well. Once he gets the goal he'll be a different player again. One good cross is all it takes, roll on Monday
priskin... only a good run in the reserves will tell... Not necessarily a 1st team player yet from what i have seen, but I would have picked him ahead of Shittu as substitute on Tuesday....
Hmm, quite a few people seem to have been proven slightly wrong as to Priskin judging by his last two games, particularly as to questions as to his aerial ability and ability at dealing with long balls. It's a shame that, as 'The Voice...' has said, he wasn't tried sooner (unless it's only been in the last couple of weeks that Tamas has greatly improved in training).
He still needs to learn how to stay onside, against Fulham he wasn't looking across to check and if the lino had not been blind Tamas would have been OS more than he was.
this has been his problem in every game i've seen him play. against wigan he was very good but his goal was offside and in the little bit of the second half twice he was well offside in the buildups and we screaming at him to get onside.
I've heard the offside rule doesn't exist yet in Eastern Europe, hence why he is still getting used to it
