So is this the same hamstring back in January that now wasn't a hamstring injury? EDIT: From reading the article looks like this has something that has bothered him for years. Seems odd you would do it 3 weeks from the start of the season though rather than at start of summer.
It may have flared up during pre-season training or perhaps his rehab from the hamstring problem would have complicated/affected the rehab on this?
Started watching the game from the 22nd min onwards. My observations from that point onwards; Capoue is a massive liability if he plays like that. Lazy tracking back, horrendous passing, constantly gave the ball away. What he was like in the first 22nd minutes I have no idea but from what I saw, it was extremely frustrating. I know it’s only pre-season but still, get the basics right. Our final ball in final third was frustrating, we got in good positions but final ball was rubbish. If you want to watch the game. It’s live on Fortuna D*sseldorfs Facebook page
Troy looking fit today. He appears briefly at the end of a video for justgiving.com/flossingphoebe A great cause raising money for Great Ormand Street Hospital with the help of 9 year old Phoebe Molnar. https://twitter.com/WatfordFC/status/1022866701795221506
Definite B team vibe about the line up tonight. Few potential starters in there but looks like we can/will put out more of a likely "first eleven" tomorrow.
Still no Docoure, Delefeou or Chalobah in the starting lineup or on the bench tonight. Must be injured, as every other player you would expect to be there, is either playing or sub.
If they get no minutes tomorrow either you'd have to consider their pre-season is severely compromised. And we all know the hangover that tends to cause for performances well into the season proper. Particularly concerning with Doucoure and Deulofeu.
Would be beyond belief if Chalobah, Doucoure and Deulofeu all weren't ready for the start of the season, even by our pathetic squad fitness standards.
team for Stevenage Watford XI: Gomes (GK); Navarro, Pr*dl, Mariappa, Masina; Hughes, Rodwell, Wilmot, Sema; Jakubiak, Deeney (C) Subs: Bachmann (GK), Cathcart, Britos, Kabasele, Janmaat, Holebas, Charles, Capoue, Pereyra, Success, Gray As eluded to earlier, it’s a strong Watford line with the likes of Troy Deeney, Will Hughes and Sebastian Prodl and Ben Wilmot also makes a return to his former club. Jack Rodwell, who has been on trial with the Hornets, is given another chance to impress whole the Watford bench also boasts plenty of depth. Still no sign of Gerard Deulofeu, Nathaniel Chalobah and Abdouloaye Doucoure in the Watford ranks, however. A question to be put for Javi Gracia after full-time.
Even as a second XI that is a pretty depressing lineup. Hughes and possibly Masina ( too early to tell) are the only Mid table Premier League quality players. Gomes (GK); Navarro, Pr*dl, Mariappa, Masina; Hughes, Rodwell, Wilmot, Sema; Jakubiak, Deeney (C)
Ha ha look at their p1ssy little stadium. It must be like playing Barcelona for them, when they come to our own little Hertfordshire sh1thole.
Injuries is one obvious explanation, the Rodwell thing kind of makes sense if so - immediately available as cover Not good if we're missing all 3 + Cleverley Going to be a tough start, in fact if we've only got Capoue, Hughes, Pereyra and Rodwell I'd say we're in the brown stuff
A big part for me is the pisspoor communication. They show loads of photos and videos of Doucoure and Deulofeu training on the club's website and social media channels. Yet when they don't play it just goes completely without mention.
Been shambolic in that respect for years. People like to frame it as playing cards close to chest but I think when it comes to player match fitness and injuries they are simply clueless so their approach is to batton down the hatches.
"Gray had a fine chance minutes after coming on but scooped over on the volley from six yards." A déj* vu I'd guess...
It sounds like the Stevenage keeper is having a blinder - Farman the Starman is stopping everything we send his way.
