Charlton, Sheff Utd., Blackburn and Man City all lost (correct me if I misheard some results or have spoken too soon) and I expect Wigan will lose as well (though I don't expect them to be relegated). Whilst obviously it matters more what we do than what other teams do, no one honestly expected us to get much from this game, so we're basically as we were a week ago. Over half a season, particularly with someone to get on the end of some of the good chances we've created other than Henderson, or today Bangura, the gap is still breachable. (edit: oh, except for Middlesbrough. However they're still very poor and I can't see them improving after Jan)
Blackburn's goal difference took abit of a hammering today! Roll on the January transfer window, we are in DESPERATE need of a couple of strikers! Even if we do sign a couple we're doomed but at least it will look more respectable!
We still have 20 games to go from which to get 21 points, maybe a couple more. That's about as good as Wigan and Reading have done thus far. It will be difficult, but it's by no means impossible.
I can see 18th place needing over 40 points to stay up... We may be doomed but i'm certainly not down about it...we'll come straight back up with Aidy at the helm! We'll keep 95% of the squad aswell for next season...the only likely departure will be Young but he can be replaced and we'll get good money for him aswell! We'll come back up within 2 seasons...mark my words!
Yes we are, we're going back down to the fizzy pop division! If you're so confident we'll stay up and i'll gladly put money on it?
and not as if we aren't trying hard enough like Charlton. Its just a lack of quality really that does cost us.
If we stay up it will be a miracle! and before you go "pompey did it"... pompey had bags full of dosh to go along with it! heart says we'll survive, head says otherwise!
lets not try and predict where we'll finish. lets just enjoy the premiership, give the team our full support and hope we stay up.
It looks increasingly unlikely with every game that goes on. What do we expect if we don't put any points on the board. I have never said we couldn't do it, but we certainly are looking like we won't.
problem is we may not have lost anymore ground, but at the end of the season it's not going to be a help to us is it? We need to start winning!!
Watford 6-0 Arsenal. ;D I think I've eaten too much! Could you imagine what people would say if we did win 6-0. I bet everyone would just talk about how Arsenal had collapsed!
don't you mean drank;D if we won 6-0 I would not go to a game for the rest of the season. You're right thought we wouldn't get praised for it at all.
Drinking starts in earnest tomorrow and up to the New Year! Maybe I'll change the prediction slightly; Watford 6-1 Arsenal More realistic.
6-1? I would gladly give up all my xmas presents for that score, in fact all my xmas presents for the foreseeable future to get that score!!
me too, a lot of money you never know all the arsenal players may get struck down with Turkey poisoning with only the U16's being fit enough to play!!! Now that would really be the best xmas present ever!!
excited? me? never just a tad?;D I actually thought he did better yesterday? 3 for Ash, 1 for Jay, 1 for Smith, and 1 for Foster
Surely he's got to score soon. Even if you put a turkey up front, law of averages would say the ball should bounce off it and go into the net randomly at some point! I think Doris must realise that come January and the transfer window his days are numbered. Still I think he would be a useful asset again in the Fizzy Pop League.
